who has said it was only circumstantial evidence that was used? ...
The existence or non-existence of any other kind of evidence is completely speculative... because the Game Mods won't reveal it yada yada yada...

I just get suspicious when the Game Mods claim to not want to release any evidence and then Phlab comes in here with a pic of my graph and somehow this is supposed to be the smoking gun that nails the crime to me.
I didn't cheat and I don't suppose Gatecrasher cheats either, but circumstantial evidence can be presented in a way to suggest people have cheated when it suits the Game Mods purpose to rubbish them and weaken their position in the eyes of the community.

I wish I knew the answer to that, because I have always been a friend to the site and the concept of the Game Mods.
I have played them all and when Ironman31 and first players were banned I was told by the Mods that several of my games and my playing style had been used to expose them, so at that point, at least I was certainly not under suspicion.
The whole thing is a sorry state of affairs.
Originally posted by orfeoNo, Phlab posted my graph in its entirety (only Mods can see this) and Tebb came in and posted a string of my early games and claimed this as evidence that I played crap until I switched on my engine. So that was two of the Mods, going against their mantra of not showing evidence but producing very dubious circumstantial evidence in an attempt to convince people that I did cheat. Even though that had all been discussed in the history of the site in the forums at the time it happened.

I think a mistake has been made, I think that the only hard evidence is that Russ' secret tools have detected a known engine on my PC - GNU Chess which comes with Winboard - I also suspect that he has detected log files that show the engine has been used, well it would have cos I play the engine myself as an opponent and also I did run analysis on some of my completed RHP games to see what it could tell me.
Now, the Game Mods are in a tricky spot, I've obviously been accused by somebody, an investigation has revealed evidence of engine presence and use, circumstantial evidence also shows that I had an irratic start at the site, I have fallen for Fool's Mate a couple of times in recent memory, I export pgns to Winboard, I play a lot of games, I used to move very quickly, all of these things are used as benchmarks in proving a case - I'm sure.
So, Russ, has to apply a standard across the board and on the face of it I appear to be guilty. However, I'm not and no matter what I or anyone else says in my defence the Game Mods for the integrity of their current methods have chosen to ban me.

Originally posted by StarrmanI don't have any hard evidence. I just have to assume that Russ has something that is beyond a reasonable doubt to detect the presence of an engine otherwise I cannot see how the case against me could be so strong that the Game Mods unanimous agreed to ban me.

The early games are not really admissible, these were know about and widely discussed when I subscribed and started to improve. The games that I was winning were all analysed and no evidence of engine use was found. This is the key thing, no prevailing use of high engine match can be found in any of my games.
