It has changed. Quite frankly I'm getting tired of it. I won't do it anymore, you can take that to the bank. Its getting way too out of hand. Alot of us forum regulars are guilty of it, myself included. When I first joined here almost two years ago, there were never issues like this. The occasional one, but never to this extent. I've decided I'm done with it. However I won't hold my breath for the rest of you perfectionists to get over it.

LOL!

How is it possible to defame a cyber-character?

Another poster that hasn't really thought about the problem.

How would you feel if you were kicked off the site as a cheater? You'll probably say that you don't have to think about that because you're not. You know you're not, but evidence could be gathered that says you are.

Looking at your graph, I picked a game which resulted in a large spike, which was Game 1340602. Analysing (just a very quick blunder check using Junior), you matched up in 28 out of 37 moves, giving a matchup rating of 76%, which is higher than Exy's average game analysed so far by non-mods. A case could be presented that you cheated in that game. As we all know, cheating in 1 move is enough to be kicked off the site, so by "cheating" in that 1 game, it is perfectly fair for the site admin to give you the boot.

As things stand, that could be the kind of process that the game mods are using. We don't know.

Now, tell me honestly, how would it feel for you to be kicked from a site that you've obviously spent a lot of time on for the past year for cheating when you know in your heart that you didn't cheat?

Obviously, I'm not accusing you of cheating. Just trying to open your eyes a bit.

With respect I have thought about the problem, many people asked for mods, they were appointed and now they should be left to do their jobs.

You picked one of a few good games I have played on this site. You are quite right I would be a little peed-off to be accused of cheating whn I know I don't.

I do play better against higher rated players as I tend to think more. One of my best victories was Game 971127. How did I match up in that game out of curiosity?

I am a fun social player, win lose or draw, its just a game. I reckon if I studied a little, worked on openings etc, I could maybe achieve a rating of around 1450/1500 max.

However when people are banned for cheating, it normally goes a bit deeper than one or two good games. The moderation team will have found overwhelming evidence, and concluded beyond reasonable doubt that the player has violated the Terms of Service, Section 3(b).

Maybe there should have a vote of "No confidence in the moderators" and then appoint new ones that people have confidence in.

🙂

But, in my opinion, this isn't going to help things on RHP in the long term, even if he really does turn out to be an 1100 player. It would be interesting though.

Interesting. About 5 years ago when I first played on ICC and was beating and drawing their Grandmasters in simuls, they sent one of their experts to challenge me to just such an encounter. I had mentioned I would be at one of USCF's National tournaments and this guy showed up wanting to play some 5 minute blitz.

Well, out of a 3 game match he managed to draw ONE game! Yeah, I stomped the livin' daylights out of him! 2.5 to .5

I will also extend this challenge to anybody who wants to test my ability since I am retiring soon and will be playing in many National events. A couple of players who I'd like to play OTB here are people that I don't think can play w/o consulting databases... namely No1maurader and XanthosNZ. Let me go on record to say that if I ever meet these two in an OTB game, I expect to dust them easily.

I just started playing OTB's again after an oh-30 year layoff and I'll admit I dearly miss my beloved MCO-14 and wonderful databases. You never know, Don; I'm sticking to upstate New York right now but there's some events next year I might travel to so if you see a guy with grey hair wearing a Yankee ball cap and carting around an MCO in pieces (the damn paperback binding ALWAYS falls apart), you might get yer chance.

Here is another graph that at some time has dipped sub 1200. I'd like Phlab to post the whole of this person's graph please.

Exactly.

You can apply all of the circumstantial evidence the Game Mods have applied to ban me, to Gatecrasher - his graph would look very similar to mine; he rapidly improved between Dec 04 and April 05.

I know cos I remember beating him in 6 straight games when he was rated around 1650, he certainly wasn't a 2100 player at that point. So, if that sort of circumstantial evidence is strong enough to ban me, despite all the contrary circumstantial evidence in my favour, then Gatecrasher ought to be banned too.
