There is no reason to get so vicious over a few stupid threads or a comment in "your" discussion that you don't think was a good enough analogy.
If you think it's still stupid, take your opinion elsewhere and leave us stupids to continue our little chat.

I've learned my lesson anyway. I'll try in future never to disagree with S-Man, retort to his toilet insults, or say anything on HIS forum.
Nobody like the black belt in origami joke? I thought that might lighten him up. Oh well.

b) It's hard to ignore when the entire first page is full of nothing but threads. Most of them started by non-subs and full of nonsense.
This is a community, some of us pay to be here, others do not. When a forum is flooded with crappy thread after crappy thread and any that people actually are interested in taking part are found driven down to page two, yes, you can be damn sure that most subscribers are gonna be p;ssed off.

Originally posted by malingaYou can disagree all you want, but entering the conversation by calling people stupid is likely to annoy people. This time it was me that's all. It's not my forum, I never made any such claim so don't play that game. And I'm not going to divulge into a 'you started it, no you did' thing either. If you wanna take it up with me, PM me by all means.

Originally posted by StarrmanI'm afraid I don't think *most* of the subscribers care at all. Afterall, these forums always have the distraction of playing chess available to one and all. It was good of Russ to include that on the side when developing the forums. I heard a rumour that the chess aspect of the site is actually more popular than the forums - can anyone substantiate this?

I don't think there was a point, could elaborate upon it?
As far as I can see he was indicating that having a debate about the moderation of sex as a subject was stupid. In fact in his words more stupid than the most stupid thing he'd ever come across, that being talks about the subject of how best to get the opposing sides in Ireland to sit at the sa ...[text shortened]... not to. Instead he suggests everyone doing so is stupid and does so with a ridiculous analogy.
Both sides up the north were having clandestine digs at each other through a third party, while supposedly discussing how to bring about discussions.
In this instance here, in the guise of being a discussion on whether discussion of sex should be allowed in RHP forums, people have spoken more about sex than I have seen on here before. It seems that people feel (and moderators obviously agree, seeing the lack of moderation) that they can write about fellatio, anal sex, beastiallity and masturbation so long as any discussion is done within a debate on whether discussion of sex should be allowed.
I thought it was a great analogy made in good humour which didn't necessitate the type of intelligentsia high-horse reactions it got.
I really liked the black belt in origami gag as well. Pity some people were too into their "we're talking about sex now so we have to be really, really serious" mode to appreciate the flippancy of the remarks.

IT IS THUS:
You people, you're technically all strangers. I've only met about one or two or three or four of you. I wouldn't think of discussing sex with strangers in the real world. I wouldn't think of discussing sex with people I see everyday, my colleagues, and it'd take quite a lot to get me to talk turkey with any of my friends. It shouldn't ...[text shortened]... t, because THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT YOU JUST DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT PEOPLE.
Case closed.
This is probably why you're so anally retentive, STD'd and lonley...
See, if nobody talks about where the best fruit in the town is, you're gonna end up buyin' crap.
Same with sex. If you talk openly about it, you get to KNOW more about it.
So the case isn't closed. It might be for you, but that's to your own disadvantage. Don't come gate-crashin' and tellin' us what we should or should not talk about.
Next thing you know you'll be removin' books about Darwin from the school libraries....
