Pardon me from varying from the theme, but I just have to tell this little trick I learned about how to win a drawn OTB game...
When you are the higher rated player and see that the game is a draw, look disgusted and offer a draw! Then fake looking nervous. Your weaker opponent will think he/she has a win and over extend themselves. Works most of the time against weaker opponents. 😵

Alekhine used to do a similar trick. He would offer a draw in an equal position, knowing that if his opponent turned it down he would feel morally obliged to go for a win.

Well, there are holes everywhere! He's gonna struggle to get developed as the best piece squares are covered with pawns, so he'll have to move them again. It might work out ok, but i doubt it somehow..
Don't waste your time on controlling the center. Everyone knows that the real action happens on the edges of the board. Once you control all four edges, you can surround opponent's pieces.
