Always take your queen out on move 2, and see how quickly you can lose it, with no compensation for it....That should hold you under 1400, perhaps even 1200, for some time to come.

Some classic stuff on this thread. If you've never read this and this is the first post your reading, seriously start at the beginning.

I've followed the advice in this thread, bought CT-ART and let it collect dust on my desk, went to CTS and refused to even register let alone do any of the tactical puzzles and still my rating gets closer 1400 every day.

I was thinking of buying Silman's Winning Chess Tactics and reading it upside down. Anyone recommend this?

I was very proud that by actually paying attention to games I had approached 1400. Still never looked at a chess book. But with all of this great advice, I think the proper thing to do is leave the site so that my 1399 remains forever unimproved.

That really works (rec'd). I just resigned 225 games out of boredom.

I will be well below 1400 for quite some time!

Unless, of course, someone feels like taking a dive in a game to get me over the hump?

A lesson to all of us I feel.

    Careless posts cost games.

And why were none of them against me?
