G,
I was actually meaning a flag picture - some sort of motif right next to a players name, that way its really obvious to everyone.
I had no idea a certain person was using (lets make em sound like a druggie....lol) until i accidentally came across you thread in the forum.
M
Yeah a flag sounds good, toilet seat on it maybe a dog peeing.........like it.
Originally posted by noxidjkramDunno if you read my post 2 pages earlier, forgot about it, and then 'subliminally' came up with a great idea or what, but I'm with you. 😉
I have another thought on what could happen to people who have been 'proved' to be using an engine....
They could be publicly flagged (thats flagged - not flogged....lol) as having been shown to be an engine user,
Somebody mentioned after I posted this idea that flagged people should be banned from tournie games. I disagreed at the time, but now I think it would be the best way. Apart from ostracizing the cheaters, it would hopefully help teach Dustn a bit of time management. 'Suspect' players would also have to be excluded from clan games.

R,
Yeah i did read your earlier post, I thought what i'd said was enuff different to be a seperate idea based upon your original flaggy thing.
My emphasis is that its not on banning people - just letting those who play without machines that they are not going to get the sort of game they wish. Point taken tho - and i'm with you 100% too....😉

I dont think there would be a need to ban people from tourneys, perhaps just create tourneys where only those unflagged could enter - other tourneys being 'all can enter' - i suspect you'd see no-one entering the tourneys where flagged engine users were allowed.
Also, from a clan game point of view i'm sure the leader of the clan could, when accepting challenges, apply the required filtering process.
What do you think??
Russ have you any comment on this thread content??

Maybe we could create a sort of blacklist in which the names of people who are proven to be cheating could be written so that the online community knows whom to avoid playing. And incase the mods dont like that you could post the names backward or in someother previously agreed upon code. This could be in a thread opened in the chess forum.
Originally posted by druidraviI believe several threads of this nature exist in one form (and forum) or another.

Originally posted by FeivelYes. I tend to agree with Feivel on this. Less said - less profile. But the issue also needs to be addressed. Perhaps a 'senate' of members with the time and resource to critique those players who pregenerate themselves with uncharacteristic and meteoroic rises in their ratings.
Just a thought here. Doesn't making it a prominent issue tend to increase the problem?

Other than that I really don't know how it can be managed to an acceptable degree.

It is recognized. Just not brought to such prominence that actually encourages some new cheaters to begin.
No use burying your heads in the sand and saying there is no cheating in the site
How does not giving cheaters a "spotlight" mean that it is not a recognized problem? Giving cheating such a high profile does encourage cheating.

Cheaters are encouraged by the lack of interest and actions of the admins regarding this issue.
In the terms of service is clearly stated that engine use is forbidden, but nothing has been done to stop it,so cheaters are free to cheat.
Silencing the minority who doesn't want engine users o the site will only encourage cheaters.
Spotted cheaters are continuing their behaviour because the aren't treathened by some provediments that are taken, for example, when one is cussing is forums (revoke of posting privilegs or banning).
They simply know that nothing can happen to them,so they continue to cheat happily!
If someone showed up his head to say ''Hey guys you'd better stop playing with an engine,or I can terminate your account'',be sure that their rating and standard of play would return to normality............
Originally posted by RavelloSo the idea is to shame one into quitting so another 2-3 can take their place and since the methods of detection are known, they can "improve" and hide better. Great idea 🙂

At least by ''shaming'' them ,everyone on the site knows who they are and avoid playing them or challenging their clans.
I understand your point, but cheaters will ever come and it can't be avoided, but at least other sites have a clear policy about it,on Rhp simply there's not a policy about engine use, everyone can do whatever he wants........................
Despite the above, you're a really good player, what do you think about guys spotted here?
Do you think they aren't using engines?
I'd love to know your thought,as I know that you beaten engines more than once.
Originally posted by RavelloSome people here are using engines and that is without a doubt. Personally I can tell you that the number of engines I am playing against has increased DRAMATICALLY since these accusations of a few has been made a "spotlight" issue. Is the intention to bring cheaters "fame"? Honestly, these accusations did run off a few players but they have been replaced by 5 times as many. If we stop putting cheaters in the spotlight I am not saying they will disappear but they will not find themselves getting the attention they want so badly. If we continuer to give them that attention then you must live with the resultant increase in engine use.
So leaving things how they are it is a better idea?
