from his megalomania, here is the rather interesting account from the most scared and inspired word of God, the Holy Bible, peace be upon it for a thousand thousand generations, for ever and ever.

(Ezekiel 28:12-17) “‘“You are sealing up a pattern, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. In Eden, the garden of God, you proved to be. Every precious stone was your covering, ruby, topaz and jasper, chrysolite, onyx and jade, sapphire, turquoise and emerald and of gold was the workmanship of your settings and your sockets in you. In the day of your being created they were made ready. You are the anointed cherub that is covering, and I have set you. On the holy mountain of God you proved to be. In the midst of fiery stones you walked about. You were faultless in your ways from the day of your being created until unrighteousness was found in you. “‘“Because of the abundance of your sales goods they filled the midst of you with violence, and you began to sin. And I shall put you as profane out of the mountain of God, and I shall destroy you, O cherub that is covering, from the midst of the fiery stones. “‘“Your heart became haughty because of your beauty. You brought your wisdom to ruin on account of your beaming splendor. Onto the earth I will throw you. Before kings I will set you, [for them] to look upon you.

you seem to be hinting that perfection and the possibility for unrighteousness are not somehow possible. Clearly Gods creatures are free moral agents and have the capacity for free will.

i accept (for the purposes of the thread) that gods creatures have free will. i accept that they are free moral agents. but why do some choose good and some choose evil. what aspect of their being creates these thoughts?

Its the same question that everyone has to ask, the great universal issue, whether you will recognise Gods sovereignty or reject it and establish your own morality.

There are many things I do not know about how my own spirit and soul and body are designed, let alone an archangel.

However, what the Bible says is that he was created perfect in his ways UNTIL ...

"You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, until unrighteousness was found in you." (Ezek. 28:15)

I don't see "you were created a perfect being" - I see "you were created perfect in your ways until ..." something. I ascertain that at what time this being decided he no longer wanted to be "perfect in [his] ways" he had the prerogative change his ways.

The mechanics of this on a very low level, I do not know. Maybe someone knows.

But I think he had time to repent. I do not see his dynamic withdrawal from God His Creator and Source as without possibility of repentance. My belief is that the time of repentance for Satan and the minions came and went a long time ago.

I also read that he was "full of wisdom and perfect in beauty" (v.12) . And further that "you corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness." (v.17)

Evidently, he had power to change his ways and he had power to corrupt his wisdom.

Now, if a robber comes to your house and breaks down your door, threatening to harm you and steal your possessions, you may muse on how he had the ability to make such choices. But I think to get out from danger is a higher priority.

We need to flee into Jesus Christ for protection from the one who came only "to kill and steal and destroy" .

"The thief does not come except to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and may have it abundantly. " (John 10:10)

Continued from above

The purpose of this brief and partial unveiling of the ancient figure (in Ezekiel and Isaiah) is that we may not be ignorant of his ways, his corrupted wisdom to deceive, and his murderous desire to kill and destroy. He became what he was in his thrust to be all that God is not.

Whatever there was in Satan it found no corresponding place in the Son of God. Jesus said that Satan had nothing in Him [Jesus] and therefore Jesus has overcome his wiles.

" ... for the ruler of the world is coming, and in Me he has nothing; But [this is so] that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded Me, so I do... " (John 16:30b,31)

The Devil tried to find ground within Jesus to corrupt Him. There were the three temptations (Matt.4:1-11). And throughout the life of Jesus Satan tried to bring Him down as he had brought Adam down. He could not. And Jesus said Satan had nothing in Him.

Satan finds plenty of ground in you and I. I escape into the sphere and realm of the Christ. There is victory and safety there. And the executioner will come into being to crush Satan under the feet of the saints of God -

"Now the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you." (Romans 16:20)

Far from simply being saved from God's judgment man is also created to coordinate with God to crush Satan under our feet. This explains much of his hatred towards man and fighting to keep men from giving themselves to Jesus Christ.

We are told that his great beauty and his position of glory as the covering angel at God's throne and his strong ambition to achieve even higher glory to be equal with God was his pride level. We can only speculate as to why this turned into the desire to replace God.

Perhaps this was the only way he could see that he could achieve higher glory and prestige by putting this same desire to achieve greater things in a third of the other angels so they followed him instead of God. We saw how he easily did this to Eve by possessing the body of the Serpent and convincing Eve that God was trying to deny her something that was good and would make her wise like God.
