Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’

A question to all the Christians here (and of course ThinkofOne...) these are the “words of Jesus” a command of Jesus, correct?

Was he being literal or metaphorical?

If it is literal, have you obeyed?
If it is metaphorical...well you know what my response to will be to that don’t you.

Let’s see which of you shows up 😉

There are righteous people who follow the commandments.
These people Christ will call into the Kingdom of God.

Dont know why you are quoting those irrelevant passages.
You proclaim we can be good before God just on the merits of our actions, that is not
scriptural. All of us should be following the commandments of the Lord, but only He
makes us righteous before God, that by coming to Him for His grace, through faith.

Replace those pronouns with names so that we might understand what you're saying.

As rwinget famously demonstrated in here many years ago “Jesus was a socialist”. Probably the ultimate socialist.

In fact maybe proving that in order to be a true socialist you need to be able to work miracles.

    Literal
    No.

That statement is one of the many routes to the Kingdom of God.
It is not the only one.

So if, according to you, good means righteous, then are you saying that what Jesus said is that no one is righteous, except God alone?

That contradicts what you just said, doesn't it?

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
    (Mark 10:18-23 KJV)

    Only God is good
    Still follow the commandments
Give to the poor, And you will get eternal life
Those who are obsessed with riches cannot do that
Hence the rich who are greedy will not enter the Kingdom of God

This is the point, give of your possessions to the poor and needy and you will have eternal life. This is the single most critical message of Christ throughout his ministry.

Why do you continue to make irrelevant quotes and statements.
Vague statements that do not deal with the question at hand is your mo .. very lame indeed.

Jesus is the way you do not get to God accept through Him. Many are charting their own courses to God, but if.they are not in Christ they will die in their sins.
