This is nonsense (no offense.)
First, one does not have to be an atheist to not hold a preconceived belief about the interpretation of a religious text. One can believe in God and be open to various interpretations of passages in the Old and New Testament.
Second, so much of the Bible is understood (or understood properly) on a spiritual level. Paul said as much when he wrote, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
(1 Corinthians 2:14)
The Bible is the inerrant Word of God and was written by men under the guidance and power of God’s Holy Spirit. To expect an atheist who does not believe God exists to be able to properly understand it is silly.
