Yes, but they were praying to JESUS CHRIST.
Of course.

Now substitute "parent, brother/sister or friend" in the above sentence with "Mary and the saints".

That's the Catholic view in a nutshell. That's what any practising 10-yr old Catholic will tell you.

I am not condemning the whole of christianity. My belief is that the MAJORITY OF Christians today are just as immoral, and in some cases MORE so, than non-Christians. It's just that they use their religion as a front to justify everything they do, think or say. I'm afraid I can't be any more specific than that. What do you want me to do? Name particular i ...[text shortened]... ant to know this exactly. But I've worked in theatre and film. Theatre mostly. Why do you ask?
Well, fair enough. Ironically, I agree with you that to many people Christianity has become a religious crutch; much like swearing is the crutch of the inarticulate idiot. Its just going to Church/Mass on a Sunday - act all pious and feel good about yourself - and then back into the same old rut.

Your concerns regarding the Pope should rather be addressed by my Catholic friends as I'm more Protestant inclined - although I guess the answer would be that he doesn't own any of it, just like a CEO doesn't own a company. This still doesn't detract from the fact that Christian charities, Catholic included do a lot of work amongst the poor and needy.

I'm an indy video-producer currently working with a humanitarian NPO; its always a pleasure to meet someone from the industry.

personally i think christianity IS a great religion IN ITS BASIC PRECEPTS. HOWEVER the righteous zeal of the believers seems to be a deterrent .christ charged his deciples "go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and the son and the holy ghost"(that is by memory so i may not be totally accurate so forgive that plz) so, i think, christians feel it is their "duty" to convert the whole world.it is an admirable mission to say the least.to say the most it makes the duty filled christian appear to be a bible thumping
lunitic.some sects of christianity think they do not sin (bible missionary) so to the outsider they appear to be self righteous judgemental snobs.
maybe if christians backed it down a notch(or 5) they would convert more of us heathen, pagan ,idol worshiping ,satanist ,witches.

Mary and those so called saints have no more authority in Heaven then you or I. JESUS CHRIST is the only one that has the ears of GOD. JESUS never said anything about praying to mary or the saints.
These were some of HIS instructions: JOHN 19:23-27.

Neither do the people (parents, family, friends etc.) you ask to pray for you. But you still ask them for intercession.

Why?

what life is there in a statue of mary or the so-called saints. What power do they have to pray to GOD. How can a statue made by man talk to GOD. All prayer goes to GOD through JESUS CHRIST, and JESUS CHRIST only.

None. But we aren't actually praying to the statues. The statues are just there as symbols.

All prayer goes to GOD through JESUS CHRIST, and JESUS CHRIST only.

Then why do you ask other people to pray for you?

There is nothing funny about Christianity. Some versions are pathetic, others evil, and several others have contributed some good to the world.

What symbols have the ear og GOD or can get GOD to answer prayer.
THE WORD OF GOD, says we are to pray for each other. We are to pray to JESUS CHRIST and to JESUS CHRIST only.

Do you really think you're going to get a logical answer from BF101?? He's been told by the leaders of his cult that Roman Catholics pray to statutes and he's going to believe it come Hell or High Water. He's quite serious about his username, though his blind faith is in other people, not God.

Are they not praying to statutes to interseed to GOD for them.
Where in THE WORD OF GOD, does it say to pray to mary or to the saints.

No, they are not praying to statutes as LH already pointed out. But since your cult leaders tell you otherwise, you refuse to hear the truth.

I'll let LH handle any scriptural justification, but not everything human beings can or should do is in the Bible. Roman Catholics don't pray to Mary or the saints either as LH already told you.

They are asking for the intercession of Mary and the saints on their and/or others behalf as you would ask others to pray to God on someone's behalf. Where does it say in the Bible that this is not allowed?
