Actually, now there is proof some animals use tools, the latest being wild chimps shown to manufacture and use SPEARS to kill their food. Oh, I forgot. Humans are the greatest invention of all times.
So you would in short order have all the tools you need to get backto civilization if dumped butt-naked into a deep forest, say, in borneo. I salute you oh great one.

I've never seen or heard of an animal "...manufactured an airplane,
built a GPS...” you have the link to show that? You have to force me
into some place, take away that which I use, and hope I have not
had training to survive to prove you point. You need to come up with
dream conditions and circumstances, I simply say look around and
get over it; you want to think you are no better than an animal than
think that, it just lowers the bar on how you can be held accountable
since animals cannot help themselves in how they behave, unless
we have something to do with it.

Humans are smarter than all other animals on this earth, I don't think anyone is denying that, but what i think we are trying to say is that this extra intelligence (i.e. bigger brains) is the only thing giving the capibility to make such great tools, there doesn't need to be anything more.

People with big brains can act just like animals, heck they are told
all the time that is all they are anyway, there are more to people
than just their brains.

We show it everyday. 🙂

Communication, language, social interactions, show me any animal that is as diverse and intense as ourselves.

Ultimately no, I think it all boils down our brains unfortunately (what goes on within it), what else can there be?
I don't believe in a soul...

I don't see it as a problem though, the human brain is so complex, it's potential is enormous, look at what we have all done so far. 🙂

It is not the animals I was speaking of when I said we do not always
show ourselves better, but people who treat others as if they were
animals and choose to act as if they have no control over their desires.

How do you define a soul, what is it you are claiming isn't real?

My definition essentially stems from the idea of it being something that survives beyond death, or something metaphysical and incorporeal that can't be measured within the body, supposedly, but is still there.

I think I'm claiming this doesn't exist.

How would you define it?

"Human ingenuity may make various inventions, but it will never devise an invention more beautiful, nor more simple, nor more to the purpose than Nature does, because in her inventions nothing is wanting and nothing is superflous."

--Leonardo Da Vinci

What I take from this quote and how I think it pertain to the current discussion is that we should not consider ourselves any more special than animals. Whether you say God created nature, or not, is besides the point. Yes, we create such beautiful things as art, music, literature, etc... but we also create such destruction, and hate. Learn from animals, understand them to better understand ourselves, and then, become a better human. That is our gift.
