Such self-delusionality robs us of badly needed intelligence. The situation we find ourselv ...[text shortened]... on some invisible and useless god and get on with making things better using our own inititive.
"The situation we find ourselves in on the planet pretty much proves that" left to ourselves we can pretty well screw things up.

"Such self-delutionality robs 'you' of badly needed" logic.

We ARE above all the rest of life on the planet.

What I take from this quote and how I think it pertain to the current discussion is that we should ...[text shortened]... rstand them to better understand ourselves, and then, become a better human. That is our gift.
You're a nature worshiper.

In every conceivable way. Although I'll admit that some humans behave no better than animals.

No. I'm thinking as a species we are superior in every way.

Can we fly through the air efficiently like birds?

No, but they can fly through our atmosphere more efficiently, that is my point, it undermines your 'In every conceivable way' notion.

Ummm... what is your point? We are nature. We are of flesh and blood, we die and live, and most importantly, exist. What sets us apart from other living creatures? A soul? The fact that God says we are special? And why would you believe such a thing when there is nothing to prove such a claim? Seriously, just because we have dominance over all other animals doesn't make us any different, or better, than them.

Don't make blanket statements like "I'm thinking as a species we are superior in every way." + "In every conceivable way."

Giving any examples that counter this undermines the word 'every', making it wrong.

Nature-the particular combination of qualities belonging to a person or thing by birth or constitution; native or inherent character:

We are not nature. We see nature in the things around us.

Whether there is a God or not, by virtue of the fact that we are dominant makes us very much different and better than the animals.

That is why we are accountable for them.

Admit defeat. You'll feel better!

And whatever you do don't take this silly debate so seriously. In the larger scheme of things it doesn't add up to a hill of beans anyway. 😉

I like to think that Humans are part of nature, part of the ecosystem, damaging the ecosystem will ultimately damage us: and that is why I think we should take care of it.
We are stewards to it.

I think it is very important to recognise that, yes we are very different than animals, and in many ways we are better than them, but also, in many other ways, they are better than us, better at doing certain things better than us (for the moment).
Damaging the ecosystem would damage our ability to learn from their intriguing abilities and use technology to replicate this, and maybe further build upon it.
