This very early deviancy goes as evidence there was something for them to maintain alternative views about, namely the four gospels.
"Deviancy" from what?

"Deviancy" from what you just so happen to believe?

Human's are stronger without a God who can override their own sense of right and wrong.

Mao's, Pol Pot's, Hitler's and Stalin's athiest regimes demonstrated the "strength" of Godless ideologies in the 20th century.

Of course revisionists like the new atheists try to pin those genocidal slaughter of millions of people on Christians as well.

"But Hitler's soldiers had something on their belt buckles about God. So blame the Holocaust on Christianity's God."

No, Adolf Hitler and his extermination of millions was not a Christian movement. It was a movement that NO ONE, but NO ONE had more authority then this mad dictator. There existed no higher authority then the Feuer.

More credit for the German "stronger without God" murder of millions can be left at the doorstep of Charles Darwin's "Survival of the Fittest" ideology of natural selection eliminating the weaker in favor of the stronger.

Belt buckles said "God with us"
All German soldiers took an oath to God and the Fuhrer . Hitler was a Catholic .
Stalin used the Russian Orthodox Church to control the people and even today they are producing icons deifying him . More Christians .
Mao was an atheist, no doubt about that .

Belt buckles said "God with us"

Which virtually meant to them " Adolf Hitler with us." No one was higher then the Feuer. Now show us how the storm troopers held Bible studies every morning reciting the Beatitudes before loading men, women and children into rail cars to death camps.

After burning down scores of Christian edifices, Stalin opportunistically shifted his policy somewhat. Being shrewed, he simply did what was most expedient to secure his dictatorship.

You cannot ignore his burning of hundreds of Christian edifices before he realized he could use the Russian Orthodox churches stealth-fully to accomplish his goals.

What about the millions of young girls ( and boys ) slain in the wombs of their mothers? Stronger without God morally modern death culture?

You probably sooth you conscience about that holocaust by demoting them from being fully human.

caissdr and Ghost of a Duke,

Did you two DECIDE to be morally stronger ethicists?

Or is it just the result of random interactions of molecules in the gray matter of your brains (no thanks to your will) that determined you'd have such an attitude ?

Did you choose some higher moral ground or was it materialistically determined for you by the random activity of atoms?

You need not be concerned about the words of man as much as the truth of God.

So you believe in a "lesser god" named Satan . How cute .
I believe that there are a lot of things people call a god, but there is only one God.

Personally, I value human beings and the amazing evolutionary journey they have made. For you, take God off the table and they are no better than maggots.

The Bible is a human creation. Therefore, God's words are simply man's words echoed back to him.

And that's the truth of the matter. 😀

There is nothing I call a god .

My Lithuanian grandmother told me , at a very young age, that it was important to be a good person . I agreed and here I am .

There is a lingering peculiarity among many theists that a person without faith has a God-sized hole in their life that they fill with the worship of money or immorality.

You say that as if it were a factual statement, much like when I say it is divine in nature. The truth is that it took 1500 years to put together it wasn't an overnight thing, it was not written by a single author attempting to enlighten his/her followers, it didn't even cast the followers into a good light. It didn't even cast the main person in scripture in a constant good light; instead showed many people calling Jesus names and so on. The 40 different authors did not write their books to make themselves look good; one of Jesus' followers was called Satan by Jesus. The writings themselves were copied and into several different languages, in several different places, along with the various creeds that were written at that time. You cannot find another ancient manuscript period that has as much support as the New Testament documents.
