Alright, maybe this isn't the most useful concept to be fixed on
It's what interests me.

What more about this do you want to know or do you think is so off..?
I am content to discuss it with proponents of the torturer god ideology. Your attempted intercession is unnecessary.

If you absolutely cannot believe because you've been touched by some events or some profound and obsessive ignorance, there can still be cases of mercy as is implied by the doctrines that exist.
I simply lack belief in your religion because I find the claims that people like you make about it to be not credible and often incoherent. I am not a Jew, and not a Muslim and not a Hindu for the same reason as I am not a Christian. I do not have "profound and obsessive ignorance".

Most people who find reality "incoherent" and "not credible" in our society are often called "profoundly and obsessively ignorant", unless, of course, they're actually mentally ill.

I find the torturer god ideology morally incoherent, for example.

I don't think I am ignorant about it because I have listened to its proponents carefully.

You object to it too, don't you?

And, no, I am not "mentally ill", Suzianne, so that's not the reason why I find parts of Christian theology incoherent.

Maybe, in your head, playing the Godfather theme...

Reality as defined by Christianity only? It seems to me arrogant of Christians to proclaim only THEIR religion as THE true religion and all other religion and the people in those religions are bound for burning in hell forever and ever.
THAT is incoherent and abhorrent to me anyway. 9000 other religions and Christianity just happens to be the one true religion and all others are fake AND those believing in those fake religions are bound for hell. Sure. And I have a GREAT bridge for sale in Omaha....
Politically we are almost brother and sister. In religion, not so much.
Of course I have always said I want freedom FROM religion, not freedom OF religion but that is just me, I am an outlier and I know that full well.
