You may have gotten further than I did in my teens when I first voluntarily opened up to the middle of the book of Isaiah and read a few passages.

That was the first attempt. Now many years latter its an ocean of wisdom that I can sail in.

Spiritual life grows with spiritual appetite.
The Bible definitely feeds something deep in me that no other writing feeds the same way.

I can say with the prophet Jeremiah (I'll give you a few translations of that precious verse Jeremiah 15:16 ) -

New Living Translation
When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God of Heaven's Armies.

English Standard Version
Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts.

On those things that do not make sense to you, I recommend you read commentaries that explain what is meant for the simple minded.

I am glad you asked that question. I usually read and compare other translations to see if I get another meaning from them. Sometimes not understanding can just be the result of a translation error.

the right ones? In fact, how do you know you've got the right interpretations? Seems to

Will you just go ahead and tell us what you believe in the bible and about the God of the bible. Don't joke around. Tell us like you really think. However, you can add a respect for God into your declarations so that you don't bring on judgement to yourself for disrespect of God.
