Originally posted by lucifershammerCome on, Hammer. You must have overlooked where I already did post a verse I really do like (page 1). It is a verse which speaks of moral fortitude. As I have already stated in this thread, there are many good verses in the Bible -- just not too many in the OT, which was my whole point. I was striking out at the OT, not RBHILL. Remember in this thread when I said that I dearly love reading RBHILL's posts? I wasn't joking about that.
Hammer: I can't help it if my love for the blood-lusting OT God bubbleth over.
You can't help it?
Seriously - is it too much to get into a spirit of charity and post some verse you actually like from the Bible (if there is one)? RBHill may be an a$$ in most of his threads, but he wasn't trying to push an agenda here.
EDIT: Ma ...[text shortened]... od does not mean one must always be opposing the other when the latter writes or says something.
I am not a big fan of the Bible, but there are some pearls among the dirt. My favorite verse is this:
25:29 For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
When I first read it, I was offended, because it didn't sound very fair in my socialist ears. But since then I've thought about this verse a lot, and it is in my opinion one of the cornerstones of modern management theory.
The idea of promoting people who did a good job is in my opinion a good thing, and the idea of rewarding people who doesn't waste away their lives and potential is in my opinion a good thing.
But that's just one verse, most of the Bible is still, in my opinion, not that good.

just chapter and verse.
I'm also not sure you are grasping what that verse is really talking
about in context. I'll have to find it and see if I'm right.
