Ireland beating Italy, Rubin Kazan beating Barcelona, Liverpool beating United, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc...

Look through any World Cup, and you'll find unlikely results.

A man who posts "only right answer" type comments in a predictions thread, is a man who doesn't know soccer. "Most likely answer" would be accurate.

I presume that comment is aimed at elbefejesus and not me?

The most laughable being the slaughter of England by Scotland immediately after receiving (NOT WINNING) the 1966 world cup 😛
I do sympathise with you Scotsmen sometimes , it must be heart breaking to see your national side staying home every major tournament !!
With England winning the World cup in 66 , and playing in South Africa as well !!! it just turns the screw a little bit more on you chaps every two years !!.
One consulation though ! You have the excitment of not knowing which team out of... two.... will win your SPL !!
While England are playing in the World cup ,you and some of your mates could have a little "mini World cup in blow football " .. Gets rid of a lot of hot air !😛

...and neither was Cameroon beating Argentina, or Senegal beating France.
But Cameroon beat Argentina in a group of 24, are you implying that South Africa 2010 will not be significantly lacking in comparison with Cameroon in 1990? Also, Argentina advanced from their group in that game, in fact all the way to the finals...

Senegal meanwhile was playing a France team that did not have its star player, Zidahn.

That's funny, nagging and nitpicking over phrases... since you know so much about the World Cup, you therefore avoid using any sort of conviction in anything, right? According to your logic at least, weakness is strength. Very 1984 of you.

greatest thing ever i saw yesterday, i watched Robin Hood, prince of thieves, at the end King Richard the lion heart shows up with a Scottish accent, and all the people bow to him, ahhhh that is the way it should be i thought, then it turns out that is Sean Connery, who like Alan Hansen is practically an Englishman anyway, but even though i thought it was a nice touch!

And France now (unless they seriously get their act together) are not as strong as Argentina 1990 or France 2002.

Tell you what, put your misguided conviction where your mouth is.

Seeing as you know the absolute and guaranteed results, I'll put on a tenner with you at 1,000,000 to 1 that France and Mexico don't get out of the group.

Seeing as you are stating the it is a fact that France and Mexico will get out of the group, you have absolutely nothing to fear.

I'm not sure where I said that weakness is strength, but sometimes, when people have assumed ridiculous positions, they lose all sight of reality, like your good self here. Or else you're just a fan of McCarthyism? And I don't mean Mick.

oh Phil, the same thing will happen as it always does, our friends south of the border shall spend the six months in the run up, telling everyone how great they are, what a great midfield they have, the players to do it, they shall go, get shafted by someone, the players shall cry like wee girlies (remember that pansy Gascoigne), the fans shall riot and set upon the bars and restaurants of whichever teams nationality gubs them, (remember the last time Portugal gubbed you, how they rioted against Portuguese bars and restaurants), you shall also weep, come up here, learn the lingo, throw away your scratch and sniff boxer shorts with that picture of David Beckham on the front, and become a true Scotsman, and curse the England football team like the rest of us!
