Just admit you made a ridiculous statement in a predictions thread, and we can all move on.

Obviously it's an appropriate response to your knit-picking.

Just admit it, you can't accept that people will talk a certain way. I hope we've all moved on quite a while ago. Go ahead and keep dragging it out though... 😴

Yes it is.
Still South Korea has been disciplined and skillful for years.
South Africa is worse now than South Korea was then.
I think their levels are not that differently. I don't think the robbery will be as scandalous as it was when SK played Italy and Spain, but still... FIFA has a lot of interest that SA goes through the group stages or at least does well.

Well Robbie , I think England will be lucky to get to the semi -finals .
As for Beckham , i think he is the most over rated player i have seen in 30 odd years of watching football !
BUT ! some times in football the best teams do not always win , so with that in mind i still have hope !
Pual Gascoigne !!.... " gets the ball ,flicks it over Henrie's head and .Whoof ! its in the back of the Scottish net ...What a goal !!!! " 😏😏😏

The draw was kind on England, so they're not that unlikelyto reach the semis. For example, Castrol Football predicts this:
http://www.castrolfootball.com/predictor/opponentpredictor/?team=3
So England could actually have it easy up to the semis.

Look at us, if we qualify 2nd behind Brazil, we get Spain, Italy, Argentina and Brazil. 😵

Whilst I agree with a lot of what you post, I have to disagree on this point.

Beckham is quality, and still one of the best crosses, and dead ball specialists in the game.
If I were Fabio Capello, Beckham would be the first name on the squad sheet for South Africa.
He maybe can't do 90 minutes anymore, but as an impact substitute I defy you to think of anyone better you'd rather bring on when we're drawing 0-0 with 20 minutes to go...

if germany, england, brazil and spain all avoid each other in the second round that's the semi final line up i see. with ghana getting to the semis if england play germany in round two, really don't rate that side of the draw.

For RHP addons...

The thing with Beckham is , all his abilities are honed on the training ground. He isn't a skillful player who can split a defence , lobbing balls into the box is easily defended and to be honest Beckham and England never get past the quarter final stages .
If, you have a player like Joe Cole running at you he will drag your defence out of shape and create hard to defend chances . James Milner ,he's the man for me !
I think Beckham is to predictable , to slow, and shouldn't be in the squad !
No disrespect to you my Sheff Utd friend but i would rather see players like Walcott,Defoe ,Cole and Milner ,players with abit of skill !!
One thing though ...At least we are there !!!

i'd add beckham before walcott... he has an end product whatever you say and in a close match a quality cross could be the different betwen going through or getting beat on pens again. if he plays well for milan i'd take beckham. lennon, wright phillips and walcott are too alike to take all 3...

I wouldn't take any one of the last 3 mentioned. There is a certain type of players who seem fast and can carry the ball with them, but when they actually get the ball they don't quite know what to do with it. They usually run somewhere and with each touch worsen their position and finally just give up the ball. Once in a while they do score but as a result of pure luck, not creativity. I don't watch much of the EPL but from what I saw all 3 are like that. Beckham is relatively slow but he's more a threat because he creates 2 - 3 quality chances per game.

To predictable trev ! World class players will mop up his crosses untill the cow's come home !!
The quarter's are the end product with Beckham .
I would certainly take Walcott but not Lennon or Wright Phillips ,James Milner has got to go !!!

walcott is wasteful and prone to injury, but the other two have their moments. for me lennon is the better of the 3, he has improved quite a bit in the last couple of years. trouble is that england don't have a lot of players who can take on a beat a players, all 3 of them can do so...
