Tournament 941
we now have with (near) certainty;
Quirine, cludi, Time Travel, and Gatecrasher.

In group 5, sastorey and GOGITOTX are still fighting for the opportunity to play in the final round. Game 2075648 looks important.

David Tebb just missed out to Timetravel, one point in it!

Will quirine defned his title? That would be pretty special.

But not at all surprising, if you ask me -
Quirine is a very strong player, probably
the best in the final group...

sastorey only has to win that game to clinch it.

My record against

Quirine: 4 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses
cludi: 1 win, 4 draws, 5 losses (ouch!)
Time Travel: 1 draw, 1 loss.
sastorey: 2 wins, 2 draws.

Should be fun.

But what you tried to say was, that based on previous games played between the final players Quirine is a clear favourite, right?

My personal favourite is Quirine as well, but I certainly want to give it my very best shot. I don't intend to end last in the final...😉

Good luck to all in the final round. I may not pay as close attention to the RHP 2k6 championship as the 2006 WCC but it will be close =)

thx

I don't know if I am the favourite. I always have a hard time against gatecrasher. I don't know Timetravel but his rating is high...

Anyway, thanks for appreciating me despite my current rating!

Otto

PS all games look pretty tense now, very interesting group!

Timtravel has taken an early lead with a win from the black side of a najdorf.

Was 12 fxg5 bad strictly due to 12 ... Ne5? or does the opening of the g and h-files make blacks h8 rook potentially to powerful (It already appears that white will castle long, so it's not immediatly lethal...)?

Game 2548747

Edit: It's a rather silly question now that I look at it. Nd5 is wonderful for black. White has an isolated e-pawn and black will probably get to play Nfg4 effectivly as well.
