Maybe we can get 800+ players and have 100+ groups in round one.

Will there be an easy way to figure out what group you are in ? For the last two I just clicked through every group until I found mine. In both 2006 and 2007 I was in group 37. Maybe I will get it 3 years in a row. 😀

Looking forward to this! I just hope i get lucky like last year, and dont catch any 2000 players in the first round so i can advance again!! Over 400 entrants now! Looks like its going to be fun all over again! I am excited!

usually a couple days into the new year so that most people have more time to prepare for the opening round, id like to see it possibly start a few days earlier, just so that im still on break from university, and I can focus on the games a bit more.

Over 500 now...pretty intense competition, and a lot of very strong players that could pull some major upsets on higher seeds!

Not many of the elite players have entered this time. I wonder if it is true what people say about the higher a reating gets - the more reluctant a player is to put it on the line.

Some elite players have entered.

And if you look at amount of moves for the elite players you'll find that several of them like to make few well pondered moves a month. Maybe the format just does not sut them.

Oh and there could be another big gun duel tournamnet wioth loon timing, that could attract these players.

But that kind of champoionship would run years and not meet the placative 2008 championship title.
