Oh, but the intent.., the intent ! all of our layman hear a writing about intent like crazy, well, let’s apply to this case shall we?
And real funny to me, everyone is saying Biden didn’t mean anything about holding the papers, blah blah blah. May I point out that Trump could say the same thing,.
You all are great examples of going with double standards. No FB ...[text shortened]... be getting a pass by simply saying no intent, or he didn’t know, or whatever the hell he is saying?
I said at the beginning that Trump shouldn't be prosecuted for having the papers unless he used them for nefarious purposes.

I'd apply the same standard to Biden's stupidity.

The grifter, Hunter, lived there. So, one day, he goes out and sifts through the files. Finds something that China would pay millions for. Rides on his daddy's plane to China, and then.........y'all finish the story.
Worrying indeed, Shav. There is a joke going around, Hunter was told to throw the files in the trash, and the gun in the garage, and got it backwards.
Hunter.

Obviously.

Hahaha yeah sure.
Biden will have turned over his tax records like every other potus for decades except trump.
Don’t you have any Qanon theories for us.
I hope you are right, all of the tax records, and since we have been finding classified documents in places they were not supposed to be, let us search those places too with a warrant in the middle of the night.

You can't be guilty of tax evasion or whatever because you "intended" to make money but you didn't.
And you can’t be guilty of robbing a bank if you thought of it but didn’t. Good stuff. But how does that apply to Biden …..AND Trump, let’s not leave out Trump Both acted equally.
Makes one wonder what the issue is. No diff in the two . Simply ignore what the 2 guys are ‘saying’, which is irrelevant

Declassified or not, the documents belong to the country, just likes gifts from heads of state to sitting presidents. The documents belong in the National Archive.

Under an Obama-era executive order, vice presidents have the authority to classify and declassify documents — just like presidents. Nonetheless, that fact was irrelevant to the DOJ's 2023 investigation into documents discovered at a former office and home of Biden. Merely declaring a document declassified, or thinking that it is, does not make it so; federal law governing gov ...[text shortened]... s office and residence had those modifications.

“federal law governing government documents
requires presidents to follow certain steps to officially turn a classified file into a declassified one, ”

that is a lie. There is no criteria, the president can choose his own method.

that is a lie…obamas order gave authority to “ classify”, not “declassify”.

You are correct that declassification is murky. Hopefully Congress will clear this up. However, even if evidence emerged that Mr. Trump technically deemed the documents declassified before leaving office, that would not help him with other legal problems arising from his hoarding of government documents despite repeated efforts to retrieve them.
The other two criminal laws cited in the search warrant affidavit — concealing or destroying government records, and concealing documents as part of an effort to obstruct an investigation or other official effort — do not have to involve national security secrets.
In May, the Justice Department obtained a grand jury subpoena for all sensitive documents remaining in Mr. Trump’s possession. His representatives turned over a few while falsely saying that no others remained. Notably, it demanded all records “bearing classification markings” — not classified records — so the claim that the former president had technically declassified them would also seem to be irrelevant to whether he unlawfully defied the subpoena.

Former presidents are not allowed to take home official records. They definitely do not have the right to destroy them. Nixon tried to destroy tapes. Average Joe, perhaps you should rename yourself Simpleton Joe.

See, this is what that new thread is about, you have no fact here that I said they could take records home. Implying I am a simpleton, so now Sonhouse and Kev and everyone think I am a simpleton.
But since you bring all this up, I challenge you to give us your explanation of Hillary having ALL her stuff, at home, on her computer, And, AND, destroying government property.
All I have said in summary is that these 2 presidents did the same thing. You will have to ask Sonhouse to tell you WHY they did it, he always knows the why of everything.

Sonhouse repeats what he hears from typical democrats. It took 2 months before we heard about this. Apparently there was a conspiracy of silence for 2 months.
