So lets put that defintion out:

A military gun is one, that reloads and shoots automatically as long as the trigger is pulled 8and the magazine not empty).

I hav enever heard of an automatic hunting rifle.
So you are okay getting shot by someone if they cannot do it repeatedly in a
very fast manner? Is it okay for the bad guys who will, by design, find a way to
overpower who they desire to get superior weapons because we restricted the
law-bidding people's ability to shoot a lot of bullets as quickly?

But it’s not bad guys in the classic sense it’s disorganised people with mental health issues. It’s not bank robbers and drug dealers shooting each other that’s upsetting people it’s deranged or severely depressed and angry young men killing kids and innocent shoppers.
It requires a concerted effort to keep mass killing machines out of the hands of those who would do harm for harms sake.

Actually most of the killings by guns in the US is done by criminals out to rob/rape/assault/etc.
And it's done by you-know-who.

Hello, BACKGROUND CHECKS,
seems they would make it
A LOT HARDER FOR A CRIMINAL TO GET A GUN,
AND NOT AFFECT LEGITIMATE SPORTSMAN AT ALL
THE CHECK WOULD SAY.....NO for a CRIMINAL
or ...............................Yes for a SPORTSMAN
Quite the opposite of, 'Only criminals will have guns....'
Am I missing something here?

Well, do that! Keep bad guys off the street, and sentence them to longer periods
for committing crimes with weapons. Instead of letting repeat offenders on the
streets, deal with the bad guys as they show themselves, bad guys. Leave the
law-bidding alone.

The US already has the highest incarceration rate in the world. https://www.prisonpolicy.org/global/2021.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw1tGUBhDXARIsAIJx01k6iyRqwaBQSdjT7xx9VfTetU6u6ORONsdyfkwjVIFcho3j8Pl-cFYaAhZBEALw_wcB

"Despite making up close to 5% of the global population, the U.S. has more than 20% of the world’s prison population. Since 1970, our incarcerated population has increased by 500% – 2 million people in jail and prison today, far outpacing population growth and crime."

Wake up, America. This isn’t about defending liberties. It’s just plan savagery.

With good cause, move the frigging prison system out into the Aleutian Islands
in Alaska, put them in tents in the middle of Arizona, don't let them on the streets
as repeat frigging offenders.

It's funny that other countries have both A) Much lower incarnation rates; AND B) Much lower rates of violent crime.

Maybe the lock em up strategy that was adopted for decades should be recognized as the failure it was.

@no1marauder

Or maybe some people are more likely to commit crimes?

You can't compare one country to another.
They have different population demographics and culture.
Their history is different and so their modern way of life will be different.

So ........ that is actually a decent start.
And I will ask the same question I asked in other threads.
What is wrong with America ???

I'm assuming you have a racist explanation. Stop being such a coward and say so.

The failure is producing a generation of people who less and less care about
other human beings and more about themselves. Years ago, there were gun
clubs with kids bringing their guns into schools, but now from conception to
the grave, it is all about the individual, what do I want, I should have this, I am
owed that. There isn't a community in a united country anymore; it is a bunch
of victim groups, not individuals thinking of themselves as a part of something
bigger than themselves. Lock them up and release them or just release them
back into a community where they become repeat offenders is just as
stupid as it gets.

Culture.

I watch movies from all over the world.
It's the American movies that have a plethora of gun violence and "action"
American rap music also.
Southerners love of guns.
Wannabe gangsters sporting guns because it's "cool"
The American media also glorifies every shooting.
Etc etc...the list is endless.
