@no1marauder saidThe latest is that the GOP's penchant for insisting their party's propaganda be shouted out of government websites could leave them open to accusations of violating the Hatch Act.
I'm telling you what the present law is not whether I approve of it.
I see you are desperate to change the subject, but you should first admit that Trump and Johnson lied when they said the shutdown was caused because Democrats demand that "illegals" be added to the Federal health programs.
@sonhouse saidI’ll try this . Give us reasoning for the following. I move to Mexico, live there a year or so, and am living off of their tax money to take care of my medical needs. I could be working hard, helping some employers make a lot of money, putting some money in my own pocket, maybe even raising a family. But you seem to act as if my presence there means the government has some duty to me. In my opinion, they would not. In my opinion, they could kick me out of that country anytime they want to and not support me. Or they could keep me in that country and not support me.
So lets suppose 10% are illegals getting meds. Which means NINETY PERCENT are regular citizens who have 100% RIGHT to get medical help but Trump is just using that as an excuse to KILL ACA, Trump could care less about illegals getting meds, it is just a means to an end for Trump, KILLING ACA.
MILLIONS of ordinary AMERICANS are the ones paying the price of losing their insu ...[text shortened]... olks.
NOTHING ELSE, but BY god they will PRAY.
YEP, a PROVEN remedy for children killing children.
Would not that same reasoning apply to our tolerance or treatment of the illegals here? Or do you think the Mexican government has some duty of caring for me?

@Mott-The-Hoople saidUnsurprisingly, the White House deliberately mislead by including "non-citizens" in those figures. Virtually all the benefits discussed would go to those legally present in the US, not undocumented immigrants:
“The Working Families Tax Cut Act, signed into law by President Trump, contains the most important America First healthcare reforms ever enacted. The policies represent a comprehensive effort to address waste, fraud, and abuse to strengthen the healthcare system for the most vulnerable Americans, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are focused on American citizens and do n ...[text shortened]... 1/white-house-democrats-demanding-200-billion-for-illegal-aliens-over-a-decade-to-reopen-government/
"There are an estimated 1.4 million people considered “lawfully present” in the United States — including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program beneficiaries, who came to the U.S. illegally as children; people who have Temporary Protected Status; and refugees and people seeking asylum who are still going through the legal process. Republicans are seeking to prohibit Medicaid or ACA eligibility for those groups.
They are not “undocumented” or “illegal” immigrants. The government knows who they are, and many are going through the process of seeking official legal status or green cards. Among other things, they are not unlawful border-crossers who have been flagged for deportation.
The GOP law prohibited those “lawfully present” immigrants from accessing federal health care programs. The Democratic bill would restore that access — but not for undocumented people who lack protected status — while also restoring the $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts, a core goal for Democrats.
The White House defended its claim by pointing to one portion of the “big beautiful bill” that Democrats are seeking to repeal, a section called “Alien Medicaid eligibility.” That section establishes the new limitations on health care access for lawfully present immigrants (“alien” is the federal term used to describe a noncitizen)."

Then they should have said that, but what they said he wants children to die. Your liberals do really have a trouble problem when reading posts.
They said that to people like Susan to get them all worked up. It will backfire in their faces, because everyone knows he does not want children to die. He wants our country to prosper.
Same as bombing cities. You bomb a city, you want children to die. And one can hide behind “prosper” and “war”, but if you know in advance you’re going to be killing babies, what does that make you?

Sonhouse, I am trying my best to break through to you. You write all this stuff as if it is an acceptable given that we have these illegal aliens amongst us. If you take them out of the equation, we are all just fine. They are usurping our meds, healthcare etal. Y’all never mention Biden, who himself is an alien to me. ANYONE gets sick in Canada, NO QUESTIONS LIKE are you a citizen? Have you sold children? Do you sell drugs?
I guess you HATE that idea of an entire country SO STUPID they want to make health care available to EVERYONE inside Canada, citizen or not.
@no1marauder saidCan you please explain what supporting a clean temporary funding bill means, and how long it kicks the can down the road before both sides are locked into the same stand-off again. What's the point if they only postpone matters a little?
Sad to say, but is the Democrats' fault - they refused to support a clean temporary funding bill (something they always insisted on in prior shutdown standoff).

It's what the Democrats always demanded when the Republicans triggered shutdowns by wanting to add extraneous matters into the budget bill at the last minute.
The "point" is it avoids a shutdown and gives the parties more time to negotiate.

Like, you will say ‘one of the immigrants asked for a free flu shot’, when more precisely, you should distinguish, to make for a valid conversation. “The illegal immigrant asked for a a free flu shot…..we only had one left. Which should get the shot?”
As to bombing, Hitler and Putin do it normally.. we don’t. So you aren’t telling us something thatwe do not already know..

so let me get this straight. You are saying that illegal immigrants are not a problem. You should start a separate thread on that one, so that we can shred it.

Medicaid: Free or very low-cost insurance for New Yorkers with low income.
If you are pregnant, you can get Medicaid regardless of immigration status, as long as you meet other requirements.
Undocumented adults who are 65 and older might be eligible for Medicaid if they meet the eligibility requirements.
If you are undocumented, under 65 and not pregnant, you can still get Medicaid for emergency services, as long as you meet other requirements”
