Who cares these agencies have half the employees to do the job that now means huge backlog in dealing with clients, SS clients, VA clients, Medicaid clients and such. And BTW HOSPITALS will close when Medicaid is cut both because they get a major portion of the operating expenses DIRECTLY from Medicaid which will ENSURE the closing of many hospitals around the country.

I've been on SS for 12 years. I don't even recall applying in the office because it was so quick and easy.
I recently took an 80 year old that just relocated back to the US after living in Canada for the last decade and they had to verify her ID, mew address, etc. . My wife and I took her to the office, she was in and out in under 20 minutes.

When that application went belly up, I took my guy into the office where we sat for hours. Finally got to a person and they said, "First off, never apply online. Always come physically into the office." Lesson learned.
Online access to SS is possible - barely. But one cannot even make a change to direct deposit online. Again: "You must come into a SS office to make this change." Etc. 😆
