The only argument I ever hear (mostly from congressmen who come visit with their "town hall mettings" is that it would cost too much. My reply is always the same: Do it anyway. Cut somewhere else. Raise taxes. Priint more $$. But DO what you must do to stop illegal aliens from entering and incarcerate those already here. Simple.
It would be impossible to arrest all of them. Once illegals started having a consequence for ignoring the laws of our country, I think many will leave on their own. I don't think we'd have to deal with 11 million.
Sure, there will be a cost, which is why it will never happen. I think it would be the right thing to do. But as I said earlier, too many peo ...[text shortened]... nothing so that you can make the people who back you happy. It's called being a politician.

I didn't say that their ability to kill people is not important. I'd imagine that they can kill people in prison, as well as outside of prison. I simply said that their power comes from their money. They get their money from drugs.
Take away their money and you take away their power.
obvious conclusion.
but like ATY said, they still carry out their drug-dealing even when in prison, so they'll always make money until drugs become legal and regulated.
I don't know if that's true or not, perhaps it would work. Perhaps it is the only option that is possible.
We could stop the drug trade if we wanted to stop it. But as I've noted multiple times now, there is not actual desire to get rid of the drugs. But legalizing drugs would bring with it even more problems. We'd have to deal with a huge explosion of worthless druggies and having to take care of them. Our budget is already at its max, the nanny state in the US simply doesn't have an extra tit for these losers.

It would create A LOT more JOBS and stimulate the economy. Roughly 11 million jobs would be freed up and Then who knows how many jobs created for cops and correctional officers. Not to mention all the work that would be created making new facilities to hold them before permanent deportation.

the legalization would not create a whole new crop of druggies.
what it would do is take away the power base of the cartels.
Example,1920's prohibition of alcohol.

But I thought the borders were open? In fact, Obama says the ONLY way to keep them out is to punish people who hire them in the private sector.
So it is your opinion that anyone and everyone should be allowed to become an American citizen?

Sure it would. Many people determine what's right and what's wrong based on what's legal and what's illegal. But in any case, it isn't marijuana that the drug cartels are making money on, its crack.
Do believe that we should make the use of crack legal too?
