Of course it will effect the balance, these toys are what win ground in the 21st century, the only real advantage that Putin has now is the ability to outgun the Ukrainian forces and demolish Ukrainian cities full of civilians at will, but the air defence systems from the Germans and the precision guided longer range rocket systems coming from the US will seriously nullify t ...[text shortened]... the last time albeit they seem to have a much more cautious leadership than at the start of the war.

Russia wants to absorb the Ukraine, followed by an endless slew of "territorial demands", aka what Hitler did.
Appeasing Putin will just result in a final conflict when the West realizes there will be no end to Russian expansion. .
@jj-adams saidAlthough we can't predict the future, I agree with your assessment as to what Putin wants to do and the West has to be prepared to prevent another Nazi Germany in motion. Maybe nip it in the bud

@no1marauder saidYou’ll need to ask that twot in the Kremlin who’s killing them for his vain glorious self image.

Once again the Ukrainians will decide how much they are prepared to sacrifice all we can do is try and ensure that we keep Putin’s ability to rape bomb and generally slaughter to a minimum, that will require weapons and other logistical support.
Remember all Putin has to do to stop this slaughter is just stop the slaughter, the west is not going support serious attacks on the Russian positions in the east if he does.
Why do you keep insisting that the victim should appease the persecutor in order to stop the persecution, it’s really weird to say the least.
@jj-adams saidSo you want to declare war on Russia?

@kevcvs57 saidYou refuse to accept any type of realism in this matter. It's a waste of time talking to a fanatic like yourself.

You can scold Putin all you want, but that won't end the slaughter. Only negotiations based on the relative strengths of the parties will do so.
Chomsky explained it well, maybe you should read his article. You and the other war hawks are willing to risk the Ukraine's destruction in a vain dream of humbling Russia. That's "really weird" not my wish to end the fighting.

You know, and I hate to call the wrath of Godwin on my head, but the Ukrainian map with Russian controlled territory highlighted looks awfully like a mirror image map of Czechoslovakia’s Sudetenland.

We've played that game with Saddam, Ho, Gaddafi and many others to justify never-ending militarization and war.
@no1marauder saidAnd it’s certainly a waste of time talking to Putin fanatic like yourself who wants to leave Ukraine trembling and naked in front of his heroic masters Chechnya’n murdering rapists,

You really are a pathetic sick puppy.
We’ll keep arming the Ukrainian forces until THEY decide to call it a day and hand THEIR country over to Putin’s fascist criminal enterprise. You’ll keep pumping your Pom Pom’s and doing your little go Putin dance, but do me a favour and do not EVER come back on this board and start your drivel about freedom fighters and the evils of empire, well at least not before I’ve had my breakfast.
@no1marauder saidEr, I would not be at all surprised Mr Chamberlain.

Yeah that’s right because invading a neighbouring state is exactly the same as not invading a neighbouring state.
You just don’t get it do you?
The 1st Iraq war had some justification because Saddam invaded Kuwait but the 2nd Iraq war had no justification.
To arm someone defending their house from a murderous home invader is the right thing to do no matter how much you have romanticised that invader.
@kevcvs57 saidOf course, this silly insulting and name calling is your fallback position in about every single post.

It's childish and dishonest, but I suppose like sacrificing Ukrainians to humble Russia, lying like this is all for the "greater good".

But then again these types of simple minded analogies rarely work in the complex world of international politics.

Your constantly labelling those who disagree with your ridiculous ‘peace’ plans as warmonger’s, idiots and emotional children without ever explaining how Ukraine is supposed to gain peace by standing down to a monster who’s stated aim is for them not to exist as an independent sovereign state. Your crocodile tears for the Ukrainian dead are not impressing anyone No1 your obvious pro Putin stance makes them all the more preposterous.
It takes two to make peace and Putin is clearly not interested in anything but the total domination of Ukraine and it’s people.
