It is amazing to me how you and Chuckleberry constantly say the most inane things and then declare your own victories.
Why do you persist in bringing me into your victimisation sessions ?

I was happily doing shag all, and you've attacked me twice so far today......is it your period ?

Why thank you Nordlys for the stereotype.

Sorry if I didn't use a sarcastic smiley. It should be obvious to anyone who read the whole thread that I was making fun of Red Night's arrogant pro-American, anti-rest-of-the-world stereotype.

Ok, first of all, I'm not really one of "them", in case you haven't noticed.
I have a very hard time getting along with some of "them". But, uh, this
actually shows clearly how we can get along in some situations and go
bull to bull in others. I think this is the point being made here, that when
you say: "we americans are so unique in our splendidness and patience
towards all others", or whatever it is you're saying, you are
generalising to an absurd level. For every person you meet, American or
otherwise, you're going to find that in some issues you get along just
peachy, agree and have fun, and in others you will wonder, seriously,
about each other's I and EQ. We all have many different sides to us and
we all have good and bad times during which we all act more or less
mature (not to mention how we all change over time).

Now, this all has nothing to do with nationality, but personal issues. So,
"you" Americans aren't by definition so great, and "we" Europeans aren't
necessarily so educated and stuffed up as we're made to be, but you
knew all this, right?

If you're going to argue that the US is built on great values and that
those values should be held up as an example to the rest of the world,
that's a whole other argument. Yes, the basic foundation on which your
country was built is a splendid one. Unfortunately, from what I hear,
you're throwing it away piece by piece, and still have the nerve to speak
of all Americans as a united, free and great people, when in fact lots of
Americans disagree with the current internal politics of your country. (Of
course, when it comes to politics, who can really not disagree?)

So, you see, I don't really think anyone is out to get you, but they
generally disagree with your generalisations and your inability to accept
their authority (which is something I actually like about you - but I've
always liked people who can challenge authority whether on good
grounds or not - that's something that needs to be done constantly -
never, ever stop questioning what's really going on or you'll be one of
"them", eventually).

For the record, I really used to dislike you (during that whole campaign
you had) because I don't believe in being nice to people, when you really
don't feel like being nice to people. That's disgusting. If I don't like
someone, I'm not going to tell xer how great xe is and hug xer.
So, when you had that campaign of yours, you were generalising,
thinking that everyone wants a peaceful and calm place, but like Tosh
said: "We want justice and equal rights, not peace". In other words, you
failed to recognise that we're all just people and that these forums make
for just another social playing ground, of sorts. Some are bold and some
are not. Some gets pushed around and some doesn't. You don't have to
be nice and prudent all the time to get along. Sometimes the same
person can change from being friendly, to hostile and then back again. If
you know that people are people and sometimes they get mad and say
really regretful things, you understand how impossible it is for a larger
group to be all peachy with each other, all the time. But I know you
understand that now, seeing as you yourself is not so nice anymore.

Don't you realize that nations cannot simply "forget" or get over things like this?

For one, it's politics.
More importantly, would you still not remember, if your family was touched by it, as well as your country?

I hope that justice is served, and that such terrorist organizations can be extensively crippled .

As they hope the same for you and your country. What's the point there?
Who started it? Who puts an end to it? Didn't we all learn about these things
in kindergarten?

1. Who started it? Techinically, the British. But the Puritans (Pilgrims) settled, and their culture engraved into our society. Slowly, colonists recognized an American identity. Then, as GB (Britain) imposed taxes, the nationalism grew. ....

2. The point? I don't know. The same as your country? To live? It's a country not for democracy, as is commonly perceived, but a constitutional republic. There are plenty of points for USA.

3. End to it? Why? I don't always follow european opinion on our nation.

4. No.

5. What do you mean, serve us justice? What is the worst thing we have done lately to warrant this?
