That is very true. If you do have an ally who is loyal enough to you then they could keep you in the game until they were able to capture a town/garrison bearing province for you. May we ALL have allies that loyal. 🙂
Since such an ally would be a complete idiot, I hope any "allies" that you have been able to purchase or beg sufficiently for are that "loyal".

I thought it was both, i.e. if you have one or the other you're still in the game.
The rulebook is very specific:
"DEFEATED REALMS REMOVED:
This is the last step. If there is a Realm that does not own any provinces or troops, then it is defeated. A Realm needs to have at least 1 province or 1 troop, or it will be removed from the game. In this case, all remaining forces revert to independent status."

EDIT: I read it wrong and you lot are right 😕

Obviously you have no concept of loyalty.

And I have neither purchased nor begged for a single ally.

**Edit - You, no1, are allowed to believe what you wish. It will not changes the facts of the matter.**

The rules are contradictory on this point; there couldn't be any "remaining forces" to revert to "independent status" if you need only one troop to avoid being defeated.

Purchase - what happened to Austria?

Beg - I'll leave that to the recipients of your PMs.

I didn't say you were successful in these techniques.

I have a pretty good concept of loyalty, but in this game system it makes no sense to capture a territory for a player who has no or few troops remaining so he could get back in the game. That territory would be more useful in your own hands.

As I said no1, you are welcome to think what you wish.

Why thank you. I've also been thinking what I can do with Munich when Army Group West and Army Group East of the Army of the Republic converge on and capture it in a few turns. The best idea so far IMO is to raze it and use the space to alleviate the gondola parking problem that is so endemic in Venice. Any ideas from other players would be appreciated.

You'd need to upgrade AGE a bit. It's looking a bit outgunned at the moment.

I could keep a couple of 10 year olds with sling shots in front of the Bavarians; they haven't got the ballsz to attack. If the Duke can't sucker some other realm into doing his fighting for him, this war's already over.

You should live so long, O Mighty Doge.

That is a goading comment if I have ever read one....

Of course, you are the mighty Venetian. You attack a meaningless fleet with a vastly superior numbers. That certainly take some ballz

Wow, what an interesting goad. Kind of like saying, "you had a queen and rook against my knight, and now I'm going to criticize you for winning".

Not at all. He is trying to goad me into attack and all he has had the ballz to do is attack a tiny fleet with a vast number.

Nothing like chess at all.

And actually, he has not won a thing yet....

Shoot, I'd send my boys from Istria into Carinthia this turn outnumbered about 3:1 but your gals will only skedaddle anyway. You've got the only Medieval army that was ever issued Reeboks as standard equipment.

The only reason your fleet was "meaningless" is because you had no clue how to put it to an effective use. Don't cry to me when you back it into a corner with no escape by violating Venice's sea zone that the Pope himself granted us title to. The difference is, of course, I'm not afraid to use my forces when it is to my advantage to do so. What about you, Dear Duke?
