Actually, you have it backwards. There are more areas to disable an individual on the head then there are in the abdomen. As you stated, the ears, temples, nose, eyes, jugglar veins in the neck. In fact, rather than the stomach I would go for the nuts as a disabler. In regards to the bone in the skull being a deterrent, don't let it be. In the combat ma ...[text shortened]... break some fingers, but your opposition will be disabled. I would defend the head at all costs.
I was only referring to your "average" fight. Most people forget anything about what they "should" do and mess up a punch to the head. I've never had a disabling blow to the head, but I have been taken down by a good shot to the stomach. I understand your point - but most people throw a punch aiming for the eye or the jaw like in the movies (at least most people I've ever fought.) Those people tend to miss, connect with glancing blows, or hit in an area that doesn't actually cause any damage. Going for the nuts rarely works because unlike the Spanish Inquisition,
everyone expects a shot to the nuts. I've only ever knocked a guy down with one shot to the head once, ever, and that was because managed to give him a good knock to the temple because he didn't see it coming.
