When they re-write the rules here so that engine use is allowed like you want them to, then I'll shut up and leave the site. So will many others. Simple enough for you, jerk?

Your problem is that you are an a**hole; it's none of your business what I do with my time and I'm not going to dignify yet ANOTHER attempt to make a site problem into an attempt at amateur psychoanalysis by a nitwit. Most people on the site don't want to be cheated; many other sites already have in place safeguards to prevent it. If this site doesn't want to, it will eventually become known as a haven for cheats; if that's okey-dokey with the Site Admins and most of the people here, so be it.

"Don't do to others what you don't want them to do to you"
Don't cheat if you don't like being cheated on.
And, more importantly: don't accuse other people of cheating. This would give them the right to turn around and call you a cheat too, even ...[text shortened]... ymore, nor to accuse anybody of cheating, and we will have peace on earth at last.

Yikes! 😲 😉

Why can't you just accept that other people have different lifes and different goals? As I have said before, this whole cheating stuff is not very important to me because I am at a level where it would be rather ridiculous to cheat, but if other players say it's important to them, it's their right to feel that way, whether I understand it or not (in this case, I understand it at least partly, but even if I wouldn't, I would still respect their feelings). It's none of your business what other people do with their life.

As one of many members who aggressively pushed for this measure, I think it's time to review the system that has been put in place. IMO, it is a flawed one and it's high time to put an eff ...[text shortened]... hers think as this issue is causing me to seriously question whether I will re-subscribe or not.
Point 1. Agree, but does my agreement with this have any bearing on anything actually being done? What happened to the other mods and why weren't they replaced by others on the voting list?

Point 2. Doesn't look likely.

Players at my level don't have to worry about engine use, but OK, if I ever got serious and wanted to improve, I'd rather play humans than some engine, cripes I could buy Fritz and play it rather than connecting to the internet.

Ok.....

I think there is a problem with cheating, and that is why I am willing to put in time and give whatever help I can... regardless of if it's just running coffee off to DT and Russ. Yeah, I'm not the biggest help in the world, but I do have things that I can get done and do them.

Part of it is fielding PM's, and once in a while come to the forum to try and give as much public info as I can about the 'project'. No, everyone will never be happy with one solution, that is for sure.

Yes, I wish there was a team of 7 or 13 people doing what we do.... Why some users backed out first couple weeks probably had a lot to do with the work load involved.

No.1 was (Almost) the only user who has 'passed in' info that is of much use to look at. He spent his time checking some games, and passed one on to look at. It is being looked at, and perhaps he'll send more. He's rather frustrated, and to tell the truth... so am I. I just don't really want to be part of this 'riot' when this subject comes up in the forums.

Well, here I am again.

Russ runs his site the way he does, and he does the best he can. I am sure he wishes he had more time to keep up with this crap, but he's either busy with his contract work, or working out some other bugs or improvements for this site. Sorry everyone's getting all frustrated, but I just need to say this again.

Russ has talked about this in private, and might have a better solution than what is going on. He'll bring it up when it is 'doable' for us all to take a vote on. I wish this wouldn't turn into user bashing like it seems to have done... nothing will get done that way. No need to destroy each other, the ball is rolling. Let's keep it constructive, I know that can be hard with a 'heated subject' like this.

sure - if someone wants to obsess over their game statistics, i could care less. i mean, it's no worse than trainspotting or something. it's when they try to get dupe the whole site into going along with their obsession that it gets up my nose.

have you noticed that of the top players here, only David Tebb seems to have involved himself in the debate? that seems suggestive to me. even if i've missed some input by one or two others, they would still be a small minority. maybe they have better things to do, like improve their game even further. It's very generous of DT to give up his time in this way, but i suspect most top players will just quietly avoid playing people they think use engines. the rest of us should follow suit if it is something that bothers us.

May I ask how you propose doing that?

Are you willing to resign games if YOU THINK that player is cheating? How do you decide someone IS cheating?

How do you avoid forced games like clan, tourneys, and sieges?

How do I avoid playing users who I suspect of engine use?

Make a list and send it to my clan leaders, telling them not to pitch me against the players on the list because they use engines? Ie: Spreading the word that certain players might be engine users, just because I have a hunch? Increasing the workload for my clan leaders?

Avoid playing in tournaments that people on my list enter? ie: Lessening the freedom I have to use my subscription as I wish, to facilitate cheaters, even though the engine user is the person breaking the TOS.

Resign Siege games when a user I suspect of engine use is next in line? Again, facilitating the person breaking the TOS at my expense.

Um, I think you have lost the ability to count. I think I'll have to doublecheck the count of the votes in the next round of the photo comp. 😉
