Try Freecell. Only standard game on here that I think is absolutely impossible to become addicted to.

Umm, my therapist would disagree with you.... 450 wins, 300 losses, current win streak 31...

Are we allowed to make public accusations on whom we believe to be racists, sexists and/or religious bigots?

The fact is there is nothing that the site is willing to do

But the most perverted thing is, that most people on RHP don't care if their opponent is using chess engine software; they only care if said opponent is using chess engine software that is strong enough to beat them.
Chess is interesting but it is just a silly little game
...[text shortened]...
what is more important having a decent community on RHP or your precious ego and chess rating?
As shown by the vote six months ago, the SirUlrichs and the dfm's who don't care whether someone cheats on the site are a tiny minority. When that minority get their way and engine use is allowed either in the TOS or de facto, the Site Admins can inform the rest of us and many will choose to leave and go to sites that are willing to make a serious attempt to address the problem. In the meantime, I'll continue to insist that effective measures be taken to stop or at least significantly reduce engine use here no matter what a few "do nothings" say.

kiss my a**; I paid my money to play other people, the site bans engine use, so they should take measures to prevent it, jerk.
Here's TOS 6- You agree not to: Post, email or otherwise make available any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;

Since you insist that violations of the TOS must be punished, i guess you're in for a forum ban. See you later. Talk about being hoist on your own tiny petard...

one of the things that doesn't seem to be able to penetrate your tiny yet thick skull is that anyone who really wants to use an engine and has an ounce of nous can make it undetectable, or so close to that it makes no difference.

and what the vote showed was either that a) hardly anyone even knew there was a vote (193 responses from over 7000 active users - a 2-3% turnout), or that b) hardly anyone cared enough to vote. there needs to be a quorum figure attached to these votes. a vote with a turnout less than say 30 or 40 per cent of eligible voters can hardly be considered valid.

Don't be obtuse: engines are not allowed and saying "I don't care if I played an engine " is not the way to solve the problem.

Playchess.com and Gameknot have a clear policy about it,and it's not called "paranoia" as you said,it's called "defending the customer rights and offering them a better service". (for which they paid)

It's all done in real time.

As for other sites I'm not sure. I know ICC has measures against cheating but I don't know exactly what they are.
how exactly does that work at Playchess? does it compare your moves to those of a bunch of engines in real time? sounds unlikely. at chess21, if you switch away from the application enough times during the game, it assumes you're cheating (i guess) and allows your opponent to claim victory. it's a big nuisance if you like to multitask during a game, and would be inappropriate for a correspondence site like this one anyway.

Don't change subject, you're avoiding the issue that you are clearly obtusely defending an undefendable point.

i'm not changing the subject. it's hypocritical to complain about violations of the TOS while you are also violating the TOS.
