i awoke last night from a dream
not the usual violence and ice cream dream, but one that might have merit
i dreamt the the current regime arrested me and deported me to cancun, quintana
ACK!
this was horrible, as the only spanish i know is what the hispanic guys taught me at the factories up north near chicago
only the cuss words
dammit
i must find a beach to lay about neked and contemplate my misfortune
It has been about two years since the start of this thread, and on my side Trump's current destructive chaos (surprisingly supported or at least unopposed by people who should be opposing it) has really put a damper on my joke-telling and creativity in general. For me, AI-generated whatever is just a sidebar.
Trump's chaotic destruction is so inconsiderate of direct effects and indirect consequences in the USA and around the world.
Maybe on a more positive note [background: as a teen I had trained myself to try to remember my dreams], in recent times I seem to be having more dreams where I meet and interact with other people, instead of just being a detached observer.
This change seems to have occurred after I learned about Kardecist Spiritism a few weeks ago, shortly after which there might have been a little bit of poltergeist activity (a spoon rattling in a teacup in the kitchen when I was in the back room at the computer table).
I wonder if that might have been my late Mom. During one phone call when she was in a nursing home, I said (and I don't think it went over well): "You are welcome to visit me from the other side if you can, but please remember I'm kind of jumpy."
Elsewhere I have already mentioned the dream with the guy with the tray of bread who followed me up the stairs to the apartment party, but last night in my dreams I was invited into an upscale dwelling with modern decor in the entryway, involving large, square banana-yellow tiles among other details, and I remember expressing my appreciation to the hostess with a little more enthusiasm than I actually felt (as one does at times for the sake of politeness).
"Wow! It looks great."
"I know. We own it."
I had arrived by bicycle and although there were no others around, it seemed a party was in the offing, so I visited a few other rooms looking for a good and polite place to leave my bicycle where it wouldn't be in the way, but didn't quite find one. In one of the side rooms was something like a Christmas tree, but decorated with bunches of bananas.
(I'm a light sleeper, so woke up and reviewed that dream. Of course in retrospect what I should have done would be to ask the hostess where I should park my bike with its dirty tires.)
So maybe there is an afterlife and maybe I'm closer to the end than I know, but some others are kindly prepping me for whatever comes next. Interesting that in this and similar recent dreams none of my relatives were involved, although I did also dream of my late Dad recently, but in a different category of dream. That one is between him and me (no, it wasn't a sex dream).
In a more practical, mundane sense: recently the local utility company replaced the old water meter with a digital one they could read from afar, and somehow that screwed up just my kitchen faucet with reduced water pressure and even more difficulty in shutting it off completely -- which wouldn't be too much of a problem if there were not a leak in the drain pipe. For years I have dealt with that leak by having a plastic dishpan under the faucet and a bucket in the cabinet underneath.
So: after that water-meter change, now I have to empty the dishpan and the bucket more often than before. To be fair, that faucet had a little bit of a drip before the meter change.
@rookie54 saidSpeaking of which, that was rather cruel and puerile of Ghost to repeat in three separate posts a few weeks ago something like "the chatbot is strong with this one" after I had complained about such a comment on another site -- what a jackass!
everytime you use AI a unicorn dies
If he intended that as some kind of exposure therapy, it was done without my consent.
@Drewnogal saidi have never been able to reason reasonably with a scrapper
@rookie54
I’ve lost hours on a nearby, new neighbour who has transformed the local green into a scrap yard. More recent it’s been where to site my new loganberry plants.
i am a terrible buddhist and would consider violence
but
i cannot recommend that for a gentle soul such as yerself
best of luck to you and yer loganberry bushes
daylight savings time is intrusive, amirite?
i manually reset the time on my microwave - easypeasy
i manually reset the time on the stove - easypeasy
i manually reset the time on the indoor/outdoor weather station that i love (pita)
i manually reset the time on the dvd player after i find the manual (dammit)
and then comes "time" to reset my "smartwatch/health device"
hooboy am i digitally illiterate
i go to the website of the manufacturer of the watch
it's been discontinued, would you like to buy another one?
i download a pdf manual for the watch and translate it into english
dammit
i disconnect the bluetooth connection between my "smartphone" and the watch
i reconnect the bluetooth connection between the phone and the watch
i learn to riverdance
then, as i weep profusely into my third cuppa coffee, i notice that the watch is displaying the correct time and date
all my blood pressure data is returned safely
same for step counting and blood oxygen levels
even the current weather is being displayed but since the government is shut down i do not trust it
what did i do correctly? what did i do incorrectly?
what will i do the next time the government tells me the time has changed again?
dammit
i must delete that pdf file before it loads another worm into my computer's brain
dammit

And as for your post about getting lost in the particulars, I have also had this general thought:
The current administration -- controlled by an attention-whore -- damages the USA just by that persistent diversion of attention, on top of whatever local and global damage it is causing.
There is a tree in the forest. On the tree is a squirrel. Next to the tree is a man. The man and the squirrel are at eye-level. The man goes around the tree, clockwise. The squirrel also crawls around the tree, clockwise. However, the man does not see the squirrel, because the squirrel is on the opposite side of the tree to the man. The man goes around the tree, the squirrel goes around the tree – but does the man go around the squirrel?? Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh ...
@Drewnogal saidMaybe those would pair well with the mountains of madness we generate.
The mountains of waste that human beings generate 🫣😲😱
