Inge strikes out. It's all over, folks. We fell short in the end, but we got a heck of a lot farther than anybody thought we would at the beginning of the year.

The young guys on the Tigers can only get better after this.

The Cardinals had the worst record of any team in the postseason by far, but they win the Series. Go figure.

That leaves us with 4 World Series victories in 10 tries. Not quite Yankee numbers, but better than most other franchises.

2 out of 30 possible tries. 1 out of 15.

The Tigers have won 4 out of 103 possible tries. 1 out of 25.75 tries.

But we've gone to the Series 10 out of 103 possible times. 1 out of 10.3 times.

It was the most pathetic Series in history. Two teams with losing records after the All-Star break for the first time in history. The Tigers committed 8 errors, with their pitchers making an error in EVERY GAME. Their were so many stupid plays in the last game - idiotic rundowns, choked throws and general ineptness - that it made a true fan:'(

I have to agree with you. It was a poor Series overall. I can't imagine that anyone outside of St. Louis got any enjoyment out of watching it. But even though we had our second half troubles, we still finished with a better overall record than all but one of the NL teams that made the postseason. And we were the AL wildcard.

Crap, I turned the tube on last night to see the Cards wearing champion shirts and hats. I shut off the tv. They were showing stats for Tiger batters who were 3 for 22 at bats etc... Darn it!

Polanco: 0 for 17
Granderson: 2 for 21
Ordonez: 2 for 19
Monroe: 3 for 20
Rodriguez: 3 for 19
Combined: 10 for 96
Combined Average: .104

We only scored a total of 11 runs between all 5 games. That, combined with the fact that we gave up 8 unearned runs in the Series means that we go down in flames. The '06 Tigers were a Jeckyl and Hyde team. You never knew which of them was going to show up on the field.

Getting beaten by Weaver in the final game was salt in the wound. But we'll be back.

Why do teams in American sports have such childish names?

Perhaps it is your non English Western mindset that make the names in question seem childish to you. What are some of the names your teams are named? What is childish about Oakland Raiders, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Texas Longhorns, Michigan Wolverines, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco Fourty Niners, Texas Rangers, Saint Louis Cardinals, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Bruins, and Boston Celtics? Just a few teams from the various sports in America.
