I really don't think you need anything except concentration to achieve 1600. You definitely don't need much in the way of chess theory, except some rudimentary tactical knowledge - much of which is pretty obvious anyway.

I need help getting back to 1400. I think if I really put my mind to it if I can overcome some of my stupidity I can be a 1550-1600 player...please help

let me get back to 1400 following your incredible advice first then we will shoot for my real goal
