You have patience my friend. You could leave and go back. 😉
It's a blitz game... Or at least that's how I was playing it. You'd have to leave the browser open to go back to it... Not sure how the site would handle that. I have used two taps before though when setting up clan challenges so could be ok.

OH I see they are blitz games, so why was it taking so long to move was it the setting, if so where did you set it?

I suck at blitz games really!!! Even worst than my longer games which are mostly blitzed, even some of the clan games I make mistake and blitz a move. I have to watch that so carefully, especially now.

Depends on the time control but anything under 10 minutes each isn't chess imo. Can have a brilliant or completely rubbish game and everything in-between 😄

I don't know, it's on the beta site maybe something Russ can work on.

You used to be good at chess 😉

I still have my moments, but you're correct not as good as I once was.

I am also in the Beta Testing.

I should have a new release for tomorrow, changing the in-game messaging. It avoids the shrinking boards by moving the chat bubbles. This is very much a test to gauge opinion.

It is a hard one to solve in a totally satisfactory way.

The new beta build just went live which features the new in-game messaging.

When you receive a message, if you have animations on, the move will be played, then the chat box will appear from below. Otherwise it appears right away.

If you do not wish to respond, whilst no message text has been entered, you can click anywhere to close the chat box.

To prevent accidental closure, once some text has been entered then the chat box must be discarded ('X' close button' or delete all of the entered text ).

The chat box can be opened up at anytime by hitting the 'reply'/'edit' button or the regular chat button.

New ingame messaging window is an imrpovement for me.

Good to hear.

I can see the beta moves accumulating since this update, so I was expecting at least a handful of comments about what is ultimately a pretty significant change to something that has worked the same way since the start of the site.

I'll take the silence as a positive.

Anyone have any input? I was not 100% sure this was the right direction at the start, but I prefer it now too and it solves the issue of shrinking boards. (A small - but fixed height - shrinkage occurs for the header showing message status.)

The way the main site is now I can access it on phone browser, see all of the in game message and scroll down a bit to see the game. It works well.

On the beta site if I access a game with a message, I can't see all of the message it's only taking up a small portion of the bottom of the screen. It starts with the end of the message, so need to scroll up to see it from the start. Then I need to hit an X to see the board and board is still smaller than the main site board.

Just for fun, I added random piece/board buttons for those who need a little inspiration picking the right permutation.

Thanks for feedback, I'll review this. Is the board really smaller still? It should be the full width of your device other than a small border?

edit : And what device please? Thanks.

The small border isn't so small my phone (oppo something or other), it means that from taking about half of the overall screen on the main site to the beta site it uses about a third overall.

I assume you mean the button on a player's profile, showing their currently used theme?

Indeed. I am not sure what the function of that is.
