Just had a weird experience with the analysis board - I was a bit back and forth with some moves, then the record of moves went a bit wobbly with black getting a - in place of the move and the move record showing in the white column.
I was moving pieces about and can't remember my exact sequence - but possibly I picked up a piece then replaced it where it was?? Wasn't really paying attention until I noticed that the record showed that white had moved a black pawn.
I have a screen-shot and saved console log if you need them.
@orangutan saidIn this case, the screen shot won't help much unfortunately, but if you see it again, see if you can reproduce it.

If the logs contain errors (normally in red) other than missing image messages, then I would very much like to see them, thanks.
Most the log content is junk left in from development, which is yet to be stripped out.
@Russ saidSo, I can reproduce this now.

1 Start the analysis board. Make a move.
2 Use the back arrow to replace the piece.
3 Now move again (same or different piece)
The notation of what you did is now in the wrong column for the colour.
edit: Console contains no obvious errors.
@orangutan saidThank you. Fix for that coming tomorrow.

I am getting used to the (now toned down) colours and I like the options to turn on/off move options etc. ( I have them all turned off)
I don't think it is necessary for your King to be highlighted to show you are in check - there is a box on the right of the board that tells you that you are in check and if you try and move the wrong piece a big red message tells you "Illegal move" (I also think that any chess player should know if they are in check or not irrespective of the number of games they are playing)
Although I am reducing my games I did like the feature on the non-beta site that clearly showed captured pieces down the bottom in a "greyed" square; I appreciate a poster's comments that the grey background made it hard for them due to bad eyesight but I don't like the feature that captured pieces are all "bunched" as opposed to being easily seen.
Just my personal thoughts and I would like to say a huge "well done" to Russ and Co who have made this a fantastic chess site.
I just started looking at the beta site yesterday so I'm a little late to the party, but
I just today noticed that the 'youtube links' do not seem to be working now. I went back to the regular non-beta site and they are working there.
Is that just something temporarily disabled in the beta, or is it a glitch?
I will post one here to see what happens.
edit: It isn't working for me here.
@Martin saidI on the other hand like the red showing up to show you are in check, as I play many games and can spot right away when the red shows that I am in check, which helps me play the games quicker, as I have more thinking time. Again very useful to the beginner players on the site. I had a person in the Greeter section ask me why it was saying he made an illegal move. So I had to explain it to them, they were actually in check and didn't know it.

I also just noticed that the square turns a different color than green when you piece can be taken without being able to take it back, I think it is an orange color but not sure on that it just really stands out which is quite helpful when playing many games, and will be of benefit to the people who are new to the game. I think that is going to be an excellent addition. Appears you have put a lot of work into this Russ, looking good so far and you know how I hate change. 😉

I appreciate your and others comments about new members being shown they are in check, legal moves etc etc etc etc
However; I feel that Russ should let the more experienced players here stop "dumbing down" the site by being able to turn off all these options.
Like you I am an oldie here and I understand the need / want to attract new players to contribute; I just want the option to turn off the obvious eg bright colour - you are in check. (PS you said red; I get yellow)
regards
@Martin saidRed = checkmate

Yellow = check
It can be optional too.
@mwmiller saidDefinitely a bug, an issue with over zealous sanitising of posted content.

@Martin saidEmojis are not permitted in game names. Thread 202298
Started a new game and wanted to do the "thumbs up" emoji followed by the "handshake"
Would not let me use the handshake

You are correct:
Red is mate
Yellow is Check.
My mistake.
