I admit this is a subject where standard definitions can lead us astray.
Ah ha, then you have brought the subject to the right forum!

If we trust AMA, it is a disorder, not a disease.
Reference please.

Here is mine:

Addiction is defined as a disease by most medical associations, including the American Medical Association and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

The 'disease' meme is pretty strong in our culture. It takes a free thinker to get past it. Hey! Learn about rat park.
It isn't a 'meme'. It is the standard definition of disease.

.... and there is no doubt that recovery from any addiction is possible.
That depends on what you mean by recovery. Some addictions leave a life long effect and desire of the drug / action.

Those are examples. The situation is in flux, and america is behind on this. Here we sue mcdonalds for our hamburger addiction. As if eating burgers is not a choice!

You recover when you regain control.

I've found no reason to care about your opinion on anything.

looks like addictions fits the description to me.
I stubbed my toe. Aw snap just caught a disease.

It is definitely a meme. That's what the standard dictionaries reflect.

Six in a row again! Clearly I suffer from the disease of sixitis.

Those are examples.
But not examples of what I actually asked for.
You claimed:

Clearly your inability to back that up with a suitable reference suggests you were lying.

Thought you would go there, make it personal to avoid the topic.

Clean slate please. I'm sorry for being so stupid. I like thinking about stuff and trying to figure things out. The world is so wonderful!

So please what is the issue here that you are willing to talk about?
