I think any armed resistance would have been better than nothing. your right tbough the average would not stand a chance.

I've hinted that I wish if we were in a perfect world that I wish all guns would just disappear, but that is not real. The cat's out of the bag and has been for many decades. So I just agree that the laws should be different and ones that would actually protect us here in the USA more.

My thought is this: Let all who want guns have them. Maybe three each which would include two different for hunting if one needs guns for that to survive for food.
Then a third being a pistol with only 6 shots. This can be for the protection that some here want.
But no one anywhere are ever allowed to have any gun other then these. No semi auto weapons of any kind period. Everyone that is in public hands now would have to be turned in with no exceptions, to there local police departmets.
All these weapons could all be stored by these local authorities in armories and these would never be allowed out of those armories unless it was the very last stand this country had against an invasion of another country.

Again I want in a perfect world for all guns to disappear but that isn't going to happen as long as man is in control. I don't want to see another human ever killed by a gun. But something like this plan would at least let ones who want guns have them and it would take these mass killing weapons off the streets and locked up.

How about when the government oversteps it's bounds and becomes oppressive to it's citizens?

Well if that goes that far what good are these guns going to do anyway? Can you fight against the strongest nation military wise the world has ever known?
Are you afraid that the USA is going that direction?

you must understand that we aren't talking about samurais, about anime or novel characters, where it's win or die. we are talking about civilians, regular people, women, children, elders. in that case survival is better than putting a good fight for 10 minutes, dying in a blaze of glory.

nobody should accept tyranny. however, one should understand when it is time to fight and when it is time to bow down or run so as to fight another day when the odds are better.

Who ever heard of an oppressive government paying attention to votes or even allowing votes that are not rigged?

You ain't seen nothing yet. This government is hardly what I'd call oppressive. Besides, I wouldn't call oppressing the oppressors exactly oppressive. I'd call it fair. The only ones actually being oppressive to the citizens of this country (no, corporations aren't citizens) have been the rich Republicans. See how they're not too overly concerned about flying right over that "fiscal cliff"?

Overstepping their bounds? No, I'd call it promoting the general welfare. Notice the founding fathers didn't say "promote the Corporate Welfare".

Besides, where were all the corporate CEOs screaming about high taxes at the end of WWII when they were around 90% of income? (They weren't exactly hurting back then, either.)

Oh, that's right. Corporations didn't have as many Congress-delivered rights like they do these days. Besides, those guys were probably actually patriotic. You know, instead of just wearing a flag on their lapels and calling themselves patriotic.

I especially love it when I see people who are otherwise Christian get their panties in a bunch when called upon to support the oppressed poor in this country. They fight that tooth and nail. Not very Christian, is it? What was it Jesus said about the rich man?

After all, GWBush "won" the election in 2000, too, despite losing the popular vote. Because the Supreme Court, a tool of the right, stopped the vote counting in Florida after Bush had gotten a 300 vote lead.

I think you mean full auto weapons.

Unless you think we should all have single-action revolvers or maybe flintlocks?

Semi-auto just means that you can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger, which includes most handguns today. I know they're called "automatics", but it's just semi-auto, not full-auto, which means it keeps firing as long as you hold the trigger, like a machine gun.

Read what I said. I hate them and want them to all disappear. But they are here and we have to deal with them. So my suggestion was not in favor of guns at all but only a suggestion on how to limit the avalability of them especailly of the assault weapons.
But I am in favor of not having any guns, period. Do you have any other suggestions?
