With guns, we might be able to get a tank. Without weapons, what then? You might as well bare your butt for target practice, numbnuts.
What happens if the good people get rid of all their guns?
It will be like shooting ducks in a pond for the bad people. Hooray! for the numbnuts.
woohaaa yeah!!!! we dun got us a tank billy-bob woooohaaaa!!!!
now how do we operate this extremely complicated piece of machinery.....oops.......billy-bob dun forgot to go to tank driving night school.
sadly for all the gun lovin rednecks.....its the nerdy i.t. guys from school that are running most of the cool stuff that goes bang.

excellent link. it would seem that the right wing, christian, gun-nuts could learn a lot from our shinto loving far eastern friends. i guess japan has never loved guns the way america does. maybe it has something to do with the nature of americas birth.
Originally posted by checkbaiterWhat's your point? That it is "concern" rather than "fear" that leads you to be willing to accept the deaths of school children as "collateral damage"? One can only imagine what you'd be willing to accept if it were "fear".
There is a difference between fear and concern...
Originally posted by galveston75there are probably many other reasons, but i think americas geographical isolation has a lot to do with the problem. i think if more americans could travel and see other cultures, it would help remove this attitude of 'we are right and everybody else is wrong'. sadly most americans dont even have a passport.

Originally posted by stellspalfieI agree on all that. There is a really big world out there and a lot to learn from it.

dude, i said it once and will say it again, you can't protect yourself from the government with a gun. gun vs tank will lose every time. if a tyrannical regime establishes itself, what could a civilian, even armed, possibly do against whatever trained militia force said regime has?
that situation will not arrive suddenly. a society needs to take measures to prevent that from happening, and those measures do not involve guns.

I have a question... As the NRA head guy is preaching even on an interview I just watched last night, that we need more guns in peoples hands to stop these "bad guys" dead in their tracks and that would almost eliminate or discourage all these fools that want to kill inocent people.
So my question is how many more guns in these "good guys" hands do we ...[text shortened]... d detourant not working already?
Do we need more guns out there to stop this? Really?
Originally posted by checkbaiterI totally agree with you on these terrible stats. I hate that anyone has to die at all especially at the hands of another human.
Do you want to talk about innocent children that die?
Here is another statistic.....
United States Abortion Statistics
54,559,615 abortions 1973–2011
This is only US, the rest of the world is even higher....

And as sad as it is there isn't much we can do to stop these murders.
But I think the point here that most are agreeing on is how easy it is to kill another human with a gun.
The alcohol issue and people driving drunk is horrible to say the least but that is hardly ever used by some idiot to actually kill. It is really hard to kill children in a school with a bottle of booze or with a car.
But the ease of taking a loaded gun into a school or movie theater is there and there way too often.
It's not that other things don't kill but the gun makes it way to easy and out of the couple things you mentioned, the gun is the only one designed to kill us on purpose.
Originally posted by galveston75So is the sword, the knife, the baseball bat, etc... It is not the gun. The gun is too valuable for self defense. It must not be banned. Automatic assault weapons? Maybe...but even these are debatable..
