Because it is a better weapon than a knife or club, I promise you if someone
were to attack a family with a knife or club a gun will quickly end that attack.
There are more knives and clubs in the world than guns.

So some here do argue that if one wants to kill you there are many ways which is true. But if the guns that are being used by these non law abiding citizens were taken away or somehow controlled better, then the natural convenience of using a gun might make ones a little more hesitant to kill.
Who knows but anything is worth a try to save innocent life's.

the world and it has very powerful gun laws. I don't think there is anywhere in
Texas that comes close to Chicago and there are T-shirts here that say we don't
need 911. That is maybe a joke of a T-shirt, but the point is true you walk into
a home here uninvited they may carry you out, and everyone knows that.

But for the NRA supposedly saying they won't support anything, it seems to be coming across really weak and uncaring for their fellow man.
It's just sick that things have gotten so far out of hand that now no one knows what to do.
Not only is the cat out of the bag now, that cat has left the building, the city, the state and is looking for a free ride to China...

on. The answers they give would work, verses the fuzzy hopes and dreams of

As a teenager I did target shooting at a range and it was NRA affiliated. They are not a bunch of rednecks as many suppose. I remember being taught (by my dad also) etiquette like rifle always up or down. Never ever assume it's not loaded and when not in use safety on. Safety was the main thing. Granted it was target rifles and .22 but it was fun. You learn how to squeeze the trigger and breath properly and hold the rifle properly. I earned little metals LOL for getting tight groups on targets. If anything it taught discipline. I don't even own a gun now (technically I do own a target rifle .22 Winchester Model 52 but I gave it to my brother) I'm not a blood thirsty killer I do however support American's being able to lawfully own guns. The founders had reason for the 2nd amendment and it should not be lightly brushed away.

How about quoting some stats for a place which has no guns, or very few guns?

But that is almost certainly not the main reason for the lower murder rates. Simply looking at the Chicago stats by race for example would immediately highlight the fact that murder rates are not strongly correlated to gun laws (which apply equally to all races in Chicago), but have more to do with other factors such as poverty or education.

does this statement only apply to america? would you say we have 'fuzzy dreams' in europe? we've banned guns, are we avoiding the 'real' issue of people? do you look at us and think 'oh dear, theyve really screwed up over in europe'?
