I mentioned life period. I said nothing about "afterlife".

Now to your first point of your sadness on my behalf because God has robbed me of meaning. Well, there is one entire book of the Bible called Ecclesiates. This writer had not only one lovely wife but 600 wives ...[text shortened]... at I could trade for [b]"the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

So you're scared of dying. Fair enough. Some of us are scared of dying, but don't make stories up to make ourselves feel better.

I did not say there were other kinds of hell, but that there were
different words all translated into the word hell.

There is only one reference to “Lucifer” (Day Star) in the Hebrew Scriptures—

> Isaiah 14:12. How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! (NRSV)

Heilel, here translated as “Day Star,” and as “Lucifer” in the KJV (and also as “morning star” ), means brightness (from another translation—i.e., I might have missed another word that is used to translate shatan.]
I heard a sermon once on tape where the guy preaching said Lucifer
was really a title for Adam, because of what you just said looking
at "Day Star" and "Morning Star" since Jesus is the Morning Star and
called the 2nd Adam. The guy who was making this claim said that he
believed that what was said in those scriptures so they had more to
do with what Adam was thinking when he was falling into sin than an
angel since the word man is used in verse 16. It was one of those
things I heard, thought was interesting and ignored. 🙂

Isaiah 14:12-17
12"How you have fallen from heaven,
O star of the morning, son of the dawn!
You have been cut down to the earth,
You who have weakened the nations!
13"But you said in your heart,
'I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne above the stars of God,
And I will sit on the mount of assembly
In the recesses of the north.
14'I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.'
15"Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol,
To the recesses of the pit.
16"Those who see you will gaze at you,
They will ponder over you, saying,
'Is this the man who made the earth tremble,
Who shook kingdoms,
17Who made the world like a wilderness
And overthrew its cities,
Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?'

That is interesting—and interesting that you mention it, as I have been doing some reading in Greek Orthodox Christianity lately, and there seems to be a strong development of that Adam/Christ, type/archetype theme (based a lot on Paul, I would guess). I have to do some more reading on it, though.

I think that the “plain meaning” of the Isaiah verses refers simply to king Cyrus. However, as you know, I have no objection to allegorical readings, and the creative, multi-level exegesis of “midrash” (am myself getting tired of that word lately 😉 )—I hardly could have any objection, since I do so much of it. 🙂

I’m glad you remembered that one. Thanks.

Who said anything about me being scared of dying?

And it is time to level with you. Darwinism is your religion and you do make up stories.

And I think I'm just going to give it to you straight from this point on.

Why make up stories about living forever otherwise?

Darwinism is not religion. All the tennents of Darwinism can be shown, and make sense. These tennents are grounded in probability, chemistry, physics anb biology. Darwinism only relies on the natural, religion on the supernatural.

And I think I'm just going to give it to you straight from this point on.

Good. About time.

Neither. The word hell is of heathen origin. Hel in old Icelandic means "abode of the dead"
