In other words, to sin against the Holy Spirit. Yes? No?
He implied one had to be a mature Christian, a teacher, etc.
And then for whatever reason, he/she has changed their mind and despised the Lord and wanted to serve Satan.
To me it sounds insane.

I recently heard a wonderful preacher talking on this topic, which caught my attention since we are discussing this.
He was commenting on the only way a Christian can lose his/her salvation.
1. A mature Christian operating the gifts of the spirit and has tasted the goodness of God.
2.He/she knowingly and willingly rebels in such a way that they curs ...[text shortened]... in Hebrews in context as a whole.
They willingly trod the son of God underfoot and despise him.

It is not about the sin in this case, it is about the will of the person.

Clearly now you are accepting what Paul said.

It takes something above that to show
grace and humility.
It would be wonderful if we could all come together
and join in harmony instead of strife.
I think the main reason for division is the lack of trust
and the difference of opinion over what religion is correct.
I have often asked myself about that and came to the
conclusion that maybe no religion is correct.
If you have faith in your religion Kelly then I respect you
and I shall not take it away or try to disillusion you.
We are all fragile flawed human beings and all we can hope
for is that the best of us will eventually find the right answer.
May your God go with you. 🙂
I don't see this as bickering at all.
It is rather a way to expound on scripture and listen to others concerning what the bible says.
I love Sonship, Rajk999, Robbie,RJHinds,Kelly, and all believers on this forum, heck, I love the Atheist too!
I was once an Atheist!
At least they are actively seeking God and truth.
Yes, some hold rather sternly to what they believe, but in the end, hopefully, they can think about what the other person is saying, and perhaps adjust their understanding.
One big problem here is that it is frequently difficult to converse in type. We forget tone, facial expression, etc.

Originally posted by checkbaiterIt does seem that Paul attributes "the thorn in the flesh" to have been given to him by a messenger of Satan or demon. However, I am not convinced that "it" is people.
It tells you right in the same chapter if you continue to read. It was people. Messengers from Satan to buffet him, harass him. Kind of like some on this forum, but in a more physical sense, and much more brutal.
In verse 8, Paul states the Following:
Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
(2 Corinthians 12:8 NKJV)
A person is not referred to as a "thing" or an "it" to my understanding.
Paul seems to be using a figure of speech or a metaphor representing a thorny or sharp painful condition in his flesh, since he also seems to refer to it as a weakness or infirmity in verse 9.
