The Jesus Question

Spirituality

In Matthew 16:15, Jesus asks His disciples "But who do YOU say I am"?

How would you answer this question? And does your answer determine whether or not you are a Christian?

Me: I am not sure. I try to believe He existed, and that He was divine, but it's difficult sometimes because of how long ago He lived, and that I must believe what the Bible tells.

Is He God? I have much difficulty with that.

But I'm curious to see how others here answer the question.

Thanks.

The disciple Simon Peter answered the question.... so
- why did you leave out the answer
- why [clearly] do you not accept Peters answer?

Peter's reply was "Messiah, and Son of God".

Neither of those is in line with Jesus being God.

Exactly the point

-Removed-
Jesus never made these claims Himself.

Do you always look for an answer to a question where another question entirely is being answered?

I'm not sure what you mean?

Peter did NOT say that Jesus was God, and Jesus seemed okay with that.

Why does our society want to change that fact?

it doesn't seem fair to blame him for being confused by all the nonsense that Christians espouse. He simply doesn't know who to believe. Hopefully eventually he'll decide to believe the gospel preached by Jesus during His ministry instead of the gospel preached by others.

We he has been around here before with the very same questions... so it aint new.
People do not accept the gospel preached by Christ. They rather dig into stuff they cannot understand and end up confusing themselves.

Jesus did not ask "who do I say I am?" He asked "who do YOU say I am?"

The is a completely different matter of why society does not accept the teachings of Christ. Many accept him with their mouth, and then proceed to change his doctrine and sideline his commandments
