I can't recall the name of it, but my favorite was the 1st (or one of the 1st) where 4 people could play as a team--one wizard, one fighter(tank), one thief, and a "valkyrie?". The went through dungeon-like areas, looting gold and potions and such, and there were bad guys and green pools of acid to kill them.

Honorable mentions: Gravitar, Pulsar, Space Duel, Space Fury and Breakout.

Never played those, but then again, I'm not an avid gamer. My picks would be:

    1) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (because it was freakin' awesome)
    2) Final Fantasy VII, which I think others have mentioned. Kudos to you guys.
    3) Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl. You gotta give it up for those two, especially Brawl.

    Gauntlet.

One fighter, one valkyrie, one wizard and one elf.

That was a fun game, but boring after a while.

Gauntlet. Fun game, but repetative and ultimately boring. The Elf always takes all the loot and gets everyone stuck between walls and the edge of the screen because they can't keep up.

The Valkarie is actually a better tank than the Barbarian. She has 30% armor, he has 20%. She is faster too. I always hated being the Barbarian. Too damn slow!

    Barbarian, not Fighter.

I would even say that the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is better then the Twilight Princess. even thought the Twilight Princess is an amazing game also. those are the 2 best Zelda games ever.

as for FPS I would say Halo series. however I have never played Call of Duty 4.

all racing games seem the same to me.

and the only fighting games I play are super smash bros.

You're right. The Barbarian, however, once he got the speed potion which made him run as
fast as the Valkyrie did initially, could run straight through monsters without taking hits.

The big disadvantage of playing the Barbarian was that his weapon wouldn't shoot through
    diagonal spaces between blocks.

Age of Empires 2 has kept me coming back for more since it came out, about 10 years ago. I can't say that about any other game.

    Superbly balanced and hyper addictive.

Battlefield 1942 took a large part of my life when it came out first as well. Groundbreaking stuff.
