@zahlanzi saidYou gotta wonder if the Green New deal is also what killed Rush Limbaugh. Very fishy.
noooo, how could they if he saw a picture of a frozen windmill? the obvious conclusion is that every windmill all over the world freezes as soon as temperatures dip below zero. It's common knowledge you only build wind turbines in tropical weather, everyone knows that.
It can't possibly be because someone up the chain skimped on costs (like they skimped on winterizing pipes) and just slapped a windmill together. That would be almost too logical.
@averagejoe1 saidElectricity in the kind of massive storage batteries they have been developing for years, now I await you pathetic claim that no one has answered your question again.
Reserve (emergency) coal supplies are stacked up for a 90-period in Texas. What would you fellers think we should stack for a 90- day period. Can someone answer this question? Not Duchess, she asks questions,, but does nor answer them. No credence.
So what would you guys (and girls) stockpile for an emergency? 90 days worth, such as that.
Fat lot of good storing it will do though when the state doesn’t upgrade the energy delivery equipment. I guess they never expected Texas to freeze up what with climate change being a hoax.
@averagejoe1 saidSweaters and candles -- same as people did everywhere else up until about 120 years ago.

Ralph Nader put it well:
"Texas plutocrats and Republican politicians brag about Texas being a low tax state. The big storm showed an inadequate power grid, low public investment and deregulation. Result? Millions without power and a defenseless state against climate violence."

An unsurprising failure of a weakly regulated market of an essential good:
"Policy observers blamed the power system failure on the legislators and state agencies who they say did not properly heed the warnings of previous storms or account for more extreme weather events warned of by climate scientists. Instead, Texas prioritized the free market."

@kevcvs57 saidYou just did.

My question was not about the woodsmen. I put it there to once more point out that liberal posters, who are somewhat uncomfortable and confused with their positions, will avoid or dance around a point, which, if engaged, would shine a HUGE light on their skewed socialist beliefs.
The answer is obvious, of course, and by not answering, you acquiesce to such a society. Really creepy, Kev. Why don't you fellers ever take something straight on?
We could just link-in some cartoons to watch!! 🙂
@AverageJoe1
The answer isn't obvious until you get the question right. The question is: can energy consumption continue to rise without end? No, it cannot.
America's energy gluttony will stop, sooner or later. There are two paths forward:
1. Through rational and sensible government rationing of energy distribution, whereby risks and damages are shared,
OR
2. through the free market, whereby the rich and powerful get to keep some of their toys running a little longer before Texas-like collapses start cascading across wider and wider regions.
It's not what it is, America — it became what you made it.
@moonbus saidMoonbus, the question with the obvious answer is a few posts above, about 2 Woodsmen. It is not about energy. Could you help us out with the answer, I think there are those amongst us who do not want to be outed.

@averagejoe1 saidThat example is far too dumb to give it any serious thought.

You tried to argue capitalism vs socialism by boiling down socialism theft.
Whenever someone is that mouth drooling retarded it's obvious no amount of patient debate would get to them.
@zahlanzi saidWell, at least you acknowledge that to consume something of another's is theft. So, you seem to think that that is OK, since you do not denounce it? You folks are extremely off the wall.

Anyway, I appreciate your answering the question, you are the bravest among everyone else. Sure makes for more interesting inroads into conversations. We each need to know what/who we are bantering with. Like, if I see you coming over, I hide the rabbit the I just shot.
Me, I dont know much about mixing hydrogen with gunpowder for energy, or whatever yall are talking about. Does anybody?
@Mott-The-Hoople
Major outages in Texas in 89, 2011 and now again in 2021.
A direct result of deregulation of the power industry.
The power companies needed to winterize their equipment but because of the stupid dereg laws passed by Texas that was just a suggestion.
Which of course by a greedy utility company, do NOTHING.
THAT is the problem.
Yeah, regulation is SUCH a pain in the ass isn't it.
@zahlanzi saidI was walking to work today and slipped on some ice. Damn you, Green New Deal. One of the many reasons why the green new deal is a bad deal for America.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_EcXfY_77c&ab_channel=BrianTylerCohen
Some numbers that 1. will be ignored by the right wing nutters here or 2. easily found all over the net by normal people actually wanting to know what the hell happened in Texas
Some have even said that the idea for the green new deal came from a Chinese Wet market. I don't know if it's true, but people are saying it.

yes. nobody said otherwise. no matter how much you whine and moan about AOC and Sanders abolishing private property
"You folks are extremely off the wall. "
Only seems that way because you cannot grasp simple concepts. Or you're trolling.
"Sure makes for more interesting inroads into conversations. "
I doubt it.

Does anybody know what the hell YOU are talking about? Shall we again go over the distinct possibility you have a drinking problem and you're posting here drunk?
