"...but there are many, MANY important things capitalism cannot provide like justice and protecting all our rights. 😆 "

Without capitalism, people would mostly worry about food, shelter etc, things that socialist countries suck at providing.
Also, a government - including courts and prisons, would not exist because those institutions cost $$$ continually.

Go live in Cuba or N. Korea for a while, and *then* talk to me about "rights"

So @AverageJoe1, using the details above. You are a capitalist - you rent out the above property and your "capitalist friendly" government allows you to deduct ~$7,000 from your taxes ever year because your property is "losing value."

Of course, you make very few improvements in the property - just enough to keep it rented! Because you are a good capitalist.

Then, ...[text shortened]... ant to hang rich landlords. Sheer, capitalist greed and corruption - aided and abetted by gummint. 😆
First, I wonder why you think about the life of the landlord. Do you think often of Jeff Bezos? I don't. I don't care.
The 'formulas' you speak of are in stone, we can leave it that that has been determined to be a good plan. Uhhh, don't let me get ahead of you, but the USA owns 34% of Global Liquid Weatlh with only 4% of the population. So, our plan works little feller. You and Mamdani are planning to change all that, are 'ya?
So anyway, for our readers, Spruce says towards the bottom that things (Profit!!!!) should what... not be allowed? So, if he and Mamdani get their way, people like me will no longer make homes available for some people, some on this VERY forum, to live in.
Any comments? How about a good discussion. Not you, Sonhouse.

Oh, did I mention above, a Barista at Starbuck last week told me that we are 4% of the world's population, yet have 34% of the global wealth. You may want to check him on that. My financial advisore did tell me the same thing.
So here we have Spruce thinking we need change. Their only plan.....take from the rich, give to the poor. If that had always been the case, would we be 34% of the global wealth? No, we would prob be Romania, and, Iran would be lighting their fuse right about now.
Give it up Spruce.

Cuba and North Korea are dictatorships. Of course they are disasters.

I'm talking about democratic socialism. 😆

Pitiful. The simplest issues are the most difficult for you sporadic liberals.

My OP points out that if people do NOT own property, assets, stuff to protect, investments, etc, then they (being you people) have no problem burning up stuff that other people have. Oh, and getting the stuff other people.
That's all. The post you just wrote? I do that for a living, ...[text shortened]... eople....I have always wondered why. Y'all need to bake a pie, your own pie.
Weird, your post.
You object to the truth? I guess you must be a weird, evil landlord who cheats everyone! Oooops! 😆

Got any examples of such systems operating successfully?
Are you classifying Europe as democratic socialism?

@AverageJoe1. Trying and failing to defend his immoral tax breaks (which violate the 14th Amendment) against the strong, powerful assault of THE SPRUCE who breaks open his bloated abdomen, stuffed with money and bile, and spills his ill-gotten gains onto the bloody ground!

Gasping, foaming at the mouth he wheezes, "Give it up... spru-" 😵 😆

You said 'socialism is a brutal regime.' That is false. 😆

Socialism is the foundation of America - an equal society where everyone has an equal say in our government and where our rights are equally protected.

A purely capitalist society (the one you have been trying to sell us over and over - without the slightest success) mandates that people have rights protect ...[text shortened]... d it is a feature of our current crop of rich, old people that they won't want to admit this one. 😆
First , all citizens have equal protection. If I can afford it, I can hire a personal body gurard and buy the best med insurance. So, yeah, you got me, it is not always 'equal'. Whew. Really strong point. zzzzzzz
Moving along, your second para about horrible capitalism, you suggest it should be a perfect world, It is not. So, you and Marxism give us perfection? You will follow this with tellling me how the USA can be the way you want it to be? WIll I still be allowed to be on this yacht at Lake Como?

Ayn Rand? You are averse to her philosophy ? Just because you do not believe in self reliance?, she cannot be THAT bad!

The you write about TRUMP?!!??! Can you just let Sonhouse run with that one?

And then you just throw out that Trump has 'damaged' something when he has in fact made great accomplishments??

I just raised a rent ( a new tenant) on a single family, previous was $850, the new tenant will pay $1200. Did not bat an eye. He is happy. New Carpet!!!
I'm happy, he is happy. So, tell us what you are getting at. Mainly the cheat part. Trump is a cheat, you know. Note how I try to keep things simple, must be my mania with Sonhouse. You don't think he is following us, do you?? 🙄

Except personal security is a protected right that we all enjoy equally. It's there in the Foundation we all agree on: "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

So is the right to seek treatment for illnesses.

No, no. Don't tell me 'I can' when someone turns me away because 'you have no insurance and you can't pay.' Normally, I could go seek cheaper medical care (as is my right) but GUMMINT (funded by @AverageJoe1 who owns a for-profit hospital) SAYS I have 'no right' to seek cheaper medical care.

Time to hang @AverageJoe1 from the yardarm of his yacht on Lake Como? 😆

You are cheating by claiming the property is "a loss" when it is "a gain." 😆

You need do a thread on whether tax breaks are immoral, let's ask Sonhhouse.
But you apparently did not read me. Yeah some guys get rich. I just hate them being rich, damn it. We need to only ask for jobs from poor people!!
So, you want to get rid of tax breaks, and shut down, (for one, although there are many diff businesses with tax breaks) the rental property investors.?---------
????????????????????????????????????????????????????
My granny asked me this question, I could not even make up an answer. Could you answer??

It's a short thread: "Yes." 😆

Any and all tax breaks violate equal protection under the 14th amendment. They should be outlawed at the federal, state, and local levels. 😆

I guess ANYONE would be happy with a FORTY % raise in rent or interest on a bank account or some stock purchase. And I bet your REAL costs MAYBE went up 10% if that. THAT is called PURE GREED.

I think it's fairly clear from an historical perspective that both socialism and capitalism in their raw and unchecked state are unsustainable. Pol Pot tried the former in extremis, and we all know what happened in Cambodia. It's clearly a complex issue, I'm a frequent visitor to Vietnam, a 'Communist' country, (despite America's best attempts to see otherwise) , and the people there live contentedly, which when all's said and done is the bell - weather of any government. Unchecked capitalism in the UK (my country of birth) over recent decades has seen the country into its' current parlous state; lack of government investment in infrastructure, industry, and in the welfare of the people have had devastating effect on healthcare, education, roads, you name it; the rich are getting richer and the poor are being left to rot, which in terms of the nation as a whole has led to a nation in decline. 'Brexit' , was a capitalist con, and the people fell for it, hook, line and sinker, and the effects are there for all to see. America beware, your country is being torn to pieces for the few, and the many will suffer; don't fall for the lies.

We all have a right to seek treatment for illnesses, Every person inside the boundaries of the USA do not even have to 'seek' , just ask for the nearest emergency room, they will take you. I love this country. They will fix your broken arm. If you want to discuss who-has-what-coverage, start a thread on it. Some have more coverage than others, there are many options, personal preference of which program suits the situtaion of each individual. Whew. I wonder why you make such statements as some one's rights in this country...like, to seek treatment.
Yu end saying that "I have no right t seek cheaper medical care'? What does that mean? I had a right to seek dental insurance, I don't need it, so I did not buy it. You are sonhouse all over again.
