@KellyJay saidThis is misleading.
Why not? You think the country should be free from religion, which is different than having freedom of religion?
Yes, in matters of government, which is supposed to serve all, the country should be free from religion, of course.
Meanwhile, individuals have plenty of freedom of religion.
All this is explained by the First Amendment. When anyone claims there is no freedom of religion in this country, I stop listening to them. I might have to start agreeing with them if laws get passed in opposition to the First Amendment, as in Louisiana, where it was decreed that the Ten Commandments must be posted in every classroom. America cannot pass laws even preferring one religion over another. This is what ends up disenfranchising people. That is WHY this was settled in the very First Amendment.
@Suzianne saidYou think all religious expression needs to be out of public arena lease someone see it?

@wildgrass saidI cannot speak for anyone but me, and if I were to agree with another’s quote on that it would be Abraham Lincoln. He talked about worrying if we were on God’s side, because God is never wrong. Anyone can claim to be doing God’s work, I do worry more about those who shout that the loudest while attacking others!
Please explain how a politician might say "we are on God's side" during a political speech without implying that God was not on the other side? If gods really on both sides, what is the point in saying it?
It doesn't make sense at a memorial service or a political rally, if what you're saying is true.
@KellyJay saidYes, absolutely.

Matthew 6:1-6
We also do not adopt a national religion so that others in our great country can worship the way they please, the way their religion dictates.
This is religious freedom. Not demanding that "If you're an American, you WILL be a Christian." Christians don't need religious freedom in this country. They are perfectly free to worship their God. It's everyone else that you deny religious freedom to who really need it.
@KellyJay saidHypocrite!

@Suzianne saidYou do have some odd ideas of what others think.
Yes, absolutely.

@Suzianne saidAgain, where do you get these things? Quote me if you are going to accuse me of anything; otherwise, you are just spewing hate without any reason other than you hate. Why else would you keep saying things like that and not be able to produce some evidence or anything to justify your words?
Newsflash: Christianity is not a circus, not a showcase for how great you think you are.
@KellyJay saidYeah Lincoln's quote is a concerned self-reflection on whether specific actions would be appreciated by God, but in the same breath admitting it cannot be known.

That quote is the opposite of Stephen Miller's, who was asserting what he believed was a fact that Republicans had God on their side. What a bold presumption.

@wildgrass saidThere are pasters in churches I don’t believe, but that doesn’t mean I think they are all bad or wrong on every topic.
