Yes that's a simple idea, but that ship has sailed. We do have guns everywhere and passing gun laws requiring every one to turn them in will only disarm the law abiding.

That too is really quite simple.
That's just great. Let's all just throw our hands up in the air and sigh.

So let's just keep our guns around until the criminals have all been disarmed, eh?
How about we just stop all ammunition manufacture and retail, then we'll tackle the actual weapons themselves.

See? Simple, really. Luckily not everyone is as negative and apathetic about these types of problems as you.

Got 3 pellet guns hanging around

My dad keeps several rifles upstairs in a cab. including WW2 one (Kant remember the name think its a KAR98) and an even older one (think its a musket.) Got a M9 somewhere.

His friend carves knives so he has these really cool looking india/africa knives.

Yeah, awesome. Nothing like a fat racist with a sniper rifle that is accurate for miles to instill a sense of security...

Also, a sniper rifle doesn't really fit into your argument about self-defence, now does it?

Why do i feel safe....because i know that not everyone has a gun and that power and the chances are dramatically dropped because of that.

And if someone were to come in with a weapon other than a gun such as a knife, sure if guns were legal in Australia, a gun would giv ...[text shortened]... stantially and quite ironically (considering that a gun is meant to protect youself) different
LOL, yeah but what if he comes in with a gun? Look you simply can not assume that no one will have a gun just because the law says so.

The ratio of overall gun casualties is different yes, but the ratio to overall violent crime is different as well. As I have said before, violent crime has plummeted here in the US over the last 20 years since we started making it easier for people to protect themselves, and violent crime has risen in Australia for the last 10 years since you made it more difficult for people to protect themselves. I submit to you that you are not safer because of the gun laws that have been enacted there.

Here's a humorous video for you that kinda makes my point.

But we're not going to agree. Its OK. Lets go back to telling lame jokes 🙂

I am neither apathetic nor negative. I just don't think that guns in the hands of law abiding people are a problem to begin with. And if you get rid of all the guns and ammunition in the world, you will still have violent crime, because there will still be violent people in the world. And you will have achieved nothing because criminal violence is the real problem, not the guns, nor the ammunition, nor the law abiding people who have them.

Indeed the romans were pretty violent and they didn't have any guns

Im still amazed at how niave people who lived in countries where guns are banned, are so afraid of guns... I guess I just grew up in a culture where Guns are an everyday thing and where no one dares to commit a crime or break in a house. most people around here (including me) never lock their cars or houses and never had a problem with crime.

I never said no guns would magically solve crime problems, but we will make it more difficult to commit crimes.
Guns are an easy way out for weaklings.

I live in a country where violent crime is rife, so I'd rather a criminal try to take me on than just point and squeeze.

Please, we're not naive, we would just rather not have bullets flying around. What's so difficult for you to understand about this?

Yes, thugs Are weaklings, but what if he had no gun,
what if the criminal is younger, bigger and stronger than you? Wouldn't you want an equalizer? Have you just thrown your hands in the air and given up?

Disarming law abiding non-violent people will not make it more difficult to commit crimes, quite the contrary.

If you live in an area rife with violence, perhaps you should take steps to protect yourself.
