So yes. Good music is not in the eye of the beholder. And in Beethoven's case it wasn't even in the ear of the beholder either ...[text shortened]... today to pull it off.

there is no scientific way to assess music quality, except in terms of tuning/ time/ harmony etc. lyrics are totally subjective. technically, there is only public opinion which of course is divided, so mozart and the birdie song are equal as compositions. you can program a computer to compose and produce music, and you can program the style too.

New question: if everyone in the world listed which songs they like best, and by some miracle one particular song gets put on everyone's list, could we say that song is "good"?
