And yes sonship, you can consider this to be me sticking the boot into your sanctimonious self righteousness.
When you are an abysmal failure to show from the Bible that the Son of God is a temporary office and there is not Father - Son - Holy Spirit as three distinct (but not seperated) Persons fall back on charges of someone's "sanctimonious self righteousness".
When flunking totally at the former go to Plan B to blame the one exposing your inneptitude of sanctimonous self righteousness.
Too bad Plan A flunks so bad after 10 years of feeble attempts to get over on Christians.
Off to bed now.
@sonship saidI am not dealing in excuses or bribes. And my conscience is not troubled in any way, sonship. The convoluted and contrived nonsense of Revelation, for me, simply undermined the credibility of everything else it's linked to ~ a reality [in my mind] that is then accentuated by people like you insisting that its must be believed in just like all the rest of the mythology. The nonsense of Revelation, for me, initiated a spiritual and intellectual process.
DIsdaining Revelation is just bribing the conscience with an excuse because SIMPLIER books you won't believe.
@fmf saidWrong again.
It makes you think you are immortal, for example.
What "makes" me know anything is that God cannot lie, and when He says I have eternal life based on my belief in what Jesus did on the cross on my behalf, that's what "makes" me believe and know that one day I too will experience resurrection.
So, you can continue to think wrongly, or you can accept that truth, then go your merry way.
@josephw saidThe form of cognition that makes you believe you are immortal is your religious faith.
What "makes" me know anything is that God cannot lie, and when He says I have eternal life based on my belief in what Jesus did on the cross on my behalf, that's what "makes" me believe and know that one day I too will experience resurrection.
Nothing supernatural has happened to you.
Your faith ~connected to the execution of a Jewish rabbi 2,000 years ago ~ makes you think you are going to exist forever.
@fmf saidYou're only projecting your opinion about what faith is while you have not a shred of it.
Faith makes people think that Jesus rose from the dead.
Faith makes people think that the murder of the world's entire population [aside from one family] was morally sound.
Faith makes people think that Hebrew genocides were morally sound.
Faith makes people think that slavery was morally sound.
Faith makes people think that executing homosexuals was [or even is] mo ...[text shortened]... le think that they are immortal, as I said before.
Faith makes people think all manner of things.
Except for the minuscule amount of the kind of faith you have that "makes" you doubt yourself.
@josephw saidBoth of us are simply sharing our opinions about what faith is, josephw. That's all that is going on here.
You're only projecting your opinion about what faith is while you have not a shred of it.
I have keen insights into what faith actually is because of my "experiential knowledge".
Perhaps if you, one day, lose your faith [or even regain it, so to speak], you will have a more perceptive and knowledgeable insight into the nature of faith than you currently have.
While I concede, of course, that both your opinion and my opinion about this matter are subjective, josephw, one could perhaps describe my perspective as somewhat more objective than yours [while still being subjective] on account of my experiential knowledge. Your assertions about your faith display more fervour and rote learning than they do analytical quality, too.
Yes, Jesus role as “son” is temporary, there is no “eternal son” in the bible, it’s made up. God is ONE and Jesus was born as a son, his role as “son” had a beginning and therefore it has an end, and therefore the trinity doctrine is a lie.
It’s quite simple.
Jesus, as Son of God is eternal.
The writer of Hebrews underscores that the Son of God has no end of days - and therefore is the eternal Son.
"Melchizedek, king od Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, . . . being interpreted king of righteuosness, and then king of Salem, which is king of peace;
Being without father, without mother, without geneology, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but likened to the Son of God, abides a priest perpetually." (See Hebrews 7:1-3)
The point is not that Melchizedek actually had no mother or father.
The point is in a allegory he was presented mysteriously as coming on the scene as
if having no geneology mentioned in the book of Genesis.
The point is neither that Jesus had no mother or no genology or that He was not physically born.
The point is that the Son of God has "neither beginning of days nor end of life".
The point not to be missed is also that the Son of God is has a perpetual priesthood, meaning it extends into eternity "perpetually". "But He, because He abides forever, has His priesthood unalterable. Hence also He is able to sve to the uttermost those who come forward to God througth Him, since He lives ALWAYS to intercede for them." (Heb.7:24,25)
The Son of God is appointed a priest for eternity according to the power of an indestructible life. For it is testified, You are a Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek." (vs. 16,17)
If the Son of God is temporary then the Son of God has end of days.
Clearly "having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but likened to the Son of God, abides a priest perpetually" means the Son of the Father - Son - Holy Spirit is an eternal Son.
"Jesus Christ [the Son of God] is the same yesterday and today, yes, even forever." (Heb. 13:8)
